My CC still has HD-DVDs.

I think the thread title needs to be changed.

It kind of surprised me that with two Circuit City stores in Tysons Corner Virginia HD-DVD selection is pathetically sparse. Compared to the recently relocated Best Buy store, which is amazing in terms of size and product: a big ol' HD/BluRay display near the front of the store. At least two Blu-Ray demos - one showing 'Dinosaurs'. BB are definately stealing CC's thunder.

Giles, I'm in the same area as you. I've only been to the CC on Leesburg Pike once, but it struck me as having a poor selection. I stopped by the CC in Fairfax tonight (I commute between Tyson's Corner and Manassas), and they had all their HD DVDs boxed up and sitting on the floor. It looked like they were in the middle of doing something with them. I didn't see any of the new Superman titles on either HD DVD or Blu-Ray.
The new BB is nice, but I miss the old location, because it was within walking distance of the office. ;) I would sometimes hang out at the BB and the Borders while waiting for traffic to clear out. |

By the way, the FYE in the Tyson's mall routinely breaks street dates on HD DVDs. Of course, they're overpriced. But if you're impatient... |
At my CC all of the HD-DVDs are locked up in the cash office. None on the floor.

rooter: I'll have to ask next time they don't have any but the computer shows they do. What a silly way to guarantee no discs are sold.
I think it's a VERY BAD idea to mix in Blu-Ray or HD DVD with regular DVDs. For us, it makes it harder to find them. For retailers, it makes it harder to check on stock. For non-owners, it makes it more confusing. I DO think mixing in HD DVD/DVD combo discs into the regular section is fine, as people can still play those, but you may have a couple of mad folks when they think their new DVD is HD or something of that nature. |
At two of the CC's by me, the HD-DVD's are literally at the back of the movie section facing the back wall, whereas the Blu-Ray are on a very visible Blu-Ray display in the middle of the HDTV section.
Maybe it's because CC doesn't carry Toshiba at all. |

FYI - CC is now carrying the Toshiba players both in-store and online.

The store by me didn't have any HD movies only Blu-Ray. When I asked a employ if they had any HD movies he had no idea what I was talking about.

At the local store here they are on an endcap in the CD section, the clerk said it was the only place she had extra room. They had an okay selection but the pricing wasn't very good at all.
