Anyone planning on picking up the UK releases of Terminator 2, The Graduate or Leaving Las Vegas?

I have T2, but have yet to watch it. Since I'm sitting at home in a cast for the next 10 days I might get around to it, but it will be viewed on a crap 720p projector with no rear surround sound in my bedroom for what it's worth.

I'll probably order the Graduate; on the fence with T2... I haven't watched my current DVD in years.

Damn it, the Casino Royale post got me excited. Doesn't BD have its own import thread?

I can't confirm this myself, but it's been reported that The Graduate has pitch problems. That would be a real shame considering how important the soundtrack is.

Am I crazy or was there an HD DVD release of "Downfall" or "Der Untergang" from the UK or Germany. I thought I remember seeing it, but now when I surf on Amazon.com UK and Gemany, I can't find it. Does anyone recall this?

I can't speak for the UK version, but I've got the French Graduate and there is no pitch problem as far as I can tell. I didn't A/B different versions, but this guy did. All I know is I found the S&G songs sped-up on the R2 SD to be extremely annoying, & the music sounded fine on the HD DVD.

Here's hoping that there will not be any further delays... since the French HD DVD release by Studio Canal will be out at retail in France on May 21.

Anyone get this yet?

If so how's the price and are there any where in the US that has it?

xploitedcinema.com 's version - is it the same?

Ugh. Well, thanks for the info anyway. I just watched it on standard DVD in German with English subs. I'd like to have it on HD. Perhaps later. Thanks.

That's interesting. Other people who've imported the Studio Canal HD-DVD have noticed a difference in pitch. Now I don't know what to believe.

Got mine a couple months ago from Amazon.uk, and I paid $27 and some change for it shipped to the US.

I should qualify it a little more though by saying that I have several PAL SDs & I'm generally gotten used to the speed-up. And I didn't have any problems with the Total Recall HD DVD, even with the difference in pitch (didn't phase me a bit). But I'm so familiar with the S&G songs after all these years that I believe I would notice if something was wrong.

Your ears must be deceiving you. The S&G songs have a definite pitch problem on the HD-DVD! I compared it with both the R1 DVD and the CD. There's no question that the music sounds totally wrong.

It's a shame because the video transfer is very, very good.

I know that I have asked this before, but is there a site that keeps track of all international HD-DVD releases? I found a couple before, but they all seem to have stopped updating their releases.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with the French release of Arizona Dream? I haven't seen this movie but I've heard great things about it and since I don't already own this on DVD I'm a bit more willing to spend the extra dough. Anyone see this yet?

I'm hoping there will be an announcement from WB any day now. I can't see them stuffing the European market with Ocean's releases and leaving us high and dry.

I'd be more than happy to start a Wiki if people want to edit it.

Saw this posted on AVS:

Warner Home Video (France) has announced that separate HD DVD releases for each of the The Matrix Trilogy films, is available to own from October 17 for 24,99 € each. That is to say, if you liked the first Matrix film, you can just buy the the HD DVD release of the first one. Main feature presentation specs and list of bonus materials for the HD DVD release of each film in the series is expected to mirror that of the North American HD DVD release (The Complete Matrix Trilogy HD DVD set). There has been no confirmation if Warner will do the same in North America, where the HD DVDs of all 3 films have been packaged and sold as a single product.

Very, very happy about this. Even if it does cost me $40 for The Matrix.

I was mistaken when I wrote that I have T2, it's Total Recall that I have.
However, last night I ordered T2 and Fantastic Four from xploited...
