Blue Underground in the early stages of putting together HD DVDs

For me, at least, this is greatly appreciated news. Lifted from an AVS post:

Hi Rodney,

Thanks for your email and interest in Blue Underground’s DVDs. We are currently in the early stages of working on releasing some of our titles on HD-DVD, but there are no set plans, titles or release dates yet. Please visit our website blue-underground for future updates on Blue Underground’s HD-DVD releases.

Regards,

Blue Underground, Inc.
Obviously that's kinda non-committal and sounds like it's still a ways off, but...

BU are a must for me (along with Anchor Bay). I'm curious though, will these companies still be able to release region 0 DVDs? Or will the new region codes not allow it? I know HD DVD codes are still in development but will Blu-ray allow Region 0 releases as things stand now? I don’t know whether there’ll be some other restrictions built into each format to stop them being played in a different region.

It's tough because BU (and AB) account for about half of the films I'd re-buy in high definition. Sony holds the rights for the others like Leone's spaghetti westerns and the Spider-Man films.

these should look stunning in HD. Even the standard DVD editions have clean vibrant video transfers that look great for their age.
