Problems with Dual-layer

Question for those who have watched dual-layer discs on your Toshiba's:

When I put in a dual-layer disc that was authored by myself on DVD-lab, it almost always (except for one disc) seems to stutter right at the beginning of both layers. It will play for a second and then stop. HOWEVER, it has zero problems playing *ahem* other DVD's burned to dual-layer.

Any idea what might cause this? I've tried two different types of media (+/- R). I'm thinking maybe if I burned at a slower speed? Can Nero still allow you to burn at a slower speed? Should I use a different program to burn?

Anyone else having this problem at all? If you're not, what are you using to burn your home movies that it works?

Thanks guys. I'd just like to figure out how to get my home videos to work on this thing.

By far my favorite DVD burning program: http://www.imgburn.com/

I think it has the best support for dual-layer burning too.

Do you have the Toshiba?

At this point, I've already wasted $4 on discs that won't be able to be played (possibly more, once I go through my collection). I'd rather not use it unless I know for sure. Otherwise, I'm just throwing away $2 on each disc that can't be used.

No, I don't have the Toshiba.

Is it possible it could be the authoring program given the fact all other things are equal? Same media, same burning program, same player, same burner?

I've certainly encountered that before.

Well...not really because I have one disc that I authored with DVD-lab that works fine. ;) That's what I don't get.
