HD DVD/Blu-ray release calendar: Part 2
I have decided to start a new thread which contains all firm titles which are going to be released for the American market.
There are many other lists, but they are arranged alphabetically, or by format and/or studios. Here I intend to make a list by release date, so that anyone can use it to see what is available at any given moment. I'll update it as more information is disclosed. To qualify, a title must have been announced by the studio (with price and availability date), or be available for preorder (not availability notification or obvious placeholder) at two different North American sites. Data followed by an asterisk are unconfirmed, based on general claims by the studio or sources close to it. Note all data are subject to change at any time until release date. Code:

Duplicating for part 2.

I'll be glad when August is over with, such a quiet month. There are lots of September titles I'm very interested in.
|
In the previous thread, kvrdave said he still couldn't find Aeon Flux on Amazon, and asked if it had actually been released.
Yes, it has been released. I've seen it many times at Best Buy. I always almost get it, but just can't justify spending $24.99 plus tax on it, no matter how good it may look. |

I have also seen it at Best Buy and Walmart. |
Just saw the "updated" cover art for The Thing. Now it's a freaking combo disc. I HATE COMBOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Apparently we're still getting TruHD5.1, though. But I agree, this combo shit is getting old.
|
Question: where's the Mission Impossible Boxed Set on that list.
Also, I had posted this at the end of the last thread. I think it bears repeating...and possibly updating as things go on. We should probably look forward to before the end of the year/beginning of next. Has that been confirmed by Universal?

I thought Inside Man was supposed to be coming, or was that just speculation? I don't see it on the list anywhere, i guess i should have grabbed the regular DVD release week.

Called Amazon to ask about it. If we had spoken the same language, it might have helped.
|
kvr,
If you really want, I can go to BB and pick you up a copy. You pay for purchase plus shipping. But you might be able to find it cheaper at some other site, anyway. It's $24.99 at BB. |
I've got plenty of time before the player gets here (from the Continental deal), but thanks a lot for the offer.
|
No problem. Figure you can use it as a last resort.
|
Mi: 3 and MI box set both available for pre-order on Amazon. Given the availability of Paramount titles, it might be a good idea to pre-order early.
|
I'm not sure I'm going to keep the order, but I pre-ordered the box set to check and see if they would apply the 10% off. They did. $61.96 shipped. MSRP is, what, $100?

Geez. $70 is pretty steep for three movies. I don't think I've paid more than $15 a movie for a boxset of a mainstream trilogy in a while.
|
Tentative release dates for a number of titles from Universal have been posted at the HD DVD blog. Nothing official, so take 'em with a grain of salt.
11/14: The Hulk, King Kong, Waterworld 11/21: Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas 11/28: An American Werewolf in London, Dune (Theatrical), Meet the Parents, The Mummy Word is that most, if not all, will be combo releases. |
I have a feeling the 11/14 date is legit. Isn't that the same day the extended dvd of Kong is released? hmmm.....
|
Hopefully they will come to their senses and NOT release those as combos.
Count me in for King Kong, Meet the Parents and The Mummy. |
I'll definitely get Kong and Parents.

I'll be curious to see how they handle DUNE, compared to the most recent DVD edition (which included anamorphic editions of both the theatrical and expanded editions).
I'm in for Kong, Dune, and American Werewolf. |
