WOW! Another huge day. Universal has been doing great hd-dvd work so far, so I am very optimistic about these releases. No combos please Universal!

Paramount is going to give us 2 more days of releases and that's it before the end of the year. I bet you.

What else is speculated from P before the end of the year? I know your thinking Black Rain....what about the Star Trek set?? Is that off the table?

Braveheart or any others rumored for this year?

I'm not expecting very much, that's for sure. we should probably reference the Paramount thread from the introduction of those discs. I know jigga confirmed and denied a bunch and didn't paramount say that, at most, they would release another dozen?

Specs for Batman Begins and others.
http://dvd.themanroom.com/dvd-newsview.php?id=307
UPDATE: Specs and cover art added for 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and 'Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.'

Warner Home Video has released front and back cover art for three of the five upcoming big HD-DVD releases scheduled for October 10, and we've got your first-look that reveals full disc specs.

As hoped for, 'Batman Begins' will be presented in Dolby TrueHD audio with a secondary Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 track for good measure. The extra features will mirror those found on the special edition DVD and also include the previously announced In-Movie Experience (IME) with Christopher Nolan, Davis S. Goyer and others. This disc should sell like hot cakes.

'The Polar Express' won't quite get the red carpet treatment the Bat did, but will be presented in Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 audio and also include the same extra features available on the standard DVD. 'Tim Burton's Corpse Bride' follows suit with a Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 EX soundtrack and the same extra features available on both the standard DVD and Blu-ray version. Look for our review of that Blu-ray version in the days ahead.

You can check out all the latest DVD, HD-DVD and Blu-ray cover art in our dedicated Cover Art Gallery. We hope to add artwork for the Willy Wonka films on HD-DVD shortly.

BD built it's own grave. If it can't dig itself out, then I ain't gonna support it.

The only thing i WILL say is that even if they start releasing these same movies on HD DVD with the same AVC transfers and little to no extras, I still won't be buying.

They might include some worthless features like a bluray scope short or movie showcase.

And oh look, more swoop-design cover art! Tho to be fair, Universal does the same, but less intrusive.

Although... Universal puts out some great titles, their menu design is boring as crap. I hate looking at that logo sometimes.

At least some of the earlier titles (like Serenity) have clips that would play during the menu sequence.

Yea they cheaped out on the menu's, and I'm upset that they couldn't stick with one case style for at least 6 months, but at least they are releasing a lot of great stuff.

Bourne and Jarhead are part of the earlier releases.

All the new titles have the crappy logo.

Somewhere in the production pipeline, around The Rundown, they started with the logo menus.

Black Rain has been announced on HD-DVD (17/11/06) and Blu Ray (22/12/06) in Japan - I'd expect Paramount to announce the US releases shortly.

Ok i just looked at the scan for the Kingdom of heaven Blu Ray release and noticed this slogan on the bottom of the disc. "Beyond High Definition". Is that sony's new slogan for the upcoming holiday season? If so where are they finding the people that are coming up with these things. That is even worse than the Look and Sound of perfect. Whatever happened to creative advertising and is it safe to assume its dead from here on out :-)

PS...

Just realized that this isnt the proper forum for this discussion. I made a new thread with this. Sorry.

PS..

Kingdom of Heaven is a Fox title. They must be using the same slogan. I do like they they are using the full cover art instead of blocking some of it with swooshes or other banners.
