Toshiba brings first HD-DVD player to Japan
Thought this was interesting.
On Friday, March 31, 2006, Toshiba started the Japanese rollout and (read about it here): Initial shipments of HD-AX1, until April 27, will bundle two complimentary HD DVD movie discs, "Resident Evil" and a Japanese film, "Moonlight Jellyfish". EDIT: Forbes is reporting here that the Toshiba HD-XA1 is "selling like hotcakes" at 110,000 yen ($936). |
There is already a mail in coupon for $25 of movie cash for HD DVD with the purchase of any HD DVD player so they are trying it.
|
Ahh the irony. One of the titles to be given away is Resident Evil, a movie based on a video game franchise that was launched on the original Sony Playstation, and a title that likely sold a lot of hardware for Sony.
|
Cool!!!
I for one can't wait to watch Moonlight Jellyfish. |
I am a forgetful fool. HD-DVD movies are region locked right?
|
They apparently won't be region locked at launch, but that may change.

I was just joking kind of because of the name of the movie. By the way, does anyone know what "Moonlight Jellyfish" is about? |

So I can connect it to my projector that only has component...for now. And then I have a finite library or a paperweight. Isn't Resident Evil a Sony/Screen Gems title? |
