Which format will you buy?

Or will you buy both players, or none??

Decker 01-08-06 12:58 AM

Blu-Ray; but only via the PS3. At least initially.

Premise 01-08-06 01:29 AM

whichever wins.

ShallowHal 01-08-06 03:10 AM

It's impossible to choose now. The formats aren't released, anything said now is just a guess until they're tested. :D

Qui Gon Jim 01-08-06 04:07 AM

Poll needs more options like "The Winner" and "First Format to $X" etc etc.

TheBang 01-08-06 04:15 AM

or "wait for combo player"

Fincher Fan 01-08-06 05:54 AM

Blu-ray

joshd2012 01-08-06 08:35 AM

Got to go with Blu-Ray. Not only because of it being in the PS3 - which I will buy - but because it has more storage.

Adam Tyner 01-08-06 08:36 AM

Probably both, even though I'm sure I'll regret it later.

Deftones 01-08-06 10:06 AM

Right now, I'm leaning towards an HD-DVD player and maybe the PS3 to cover both bases, but I really don't know yet.

Maxflier 01-08-06 11:11 AM

My current plan is to get an HD-DVD player at launch and eventually a PS3, so both i guess.
Bluray looks to be great and all, but i'm not too keen on dropping a grand for a Bluray player.

mbs 01-08-06 11:14 AM

When the PS3 launches, I'll have myself a BD player. And I'll snag a combo-player as soon as one exists at a reasonable price (around 500 or so).

Deus 01-08-06 11:15 AM

I'll get a PS3 initially just for games. Then if Blu-ray is doing well, and the prices are right, I'll probabaly go with Blu-ray. I really can't see myself paying out an extra £500 (or however much) for a HD-DVD player too unless the Blu-ray format flops.

Eddie W 01-08-06 11:45 AM

I'll won't buy either just for the technology. I'll buy whichever has the software I want to play in it.

JohnnyDrama2006 01-08-06 01:06 PM

Both out of the gate. I've got my preorder in for one of the Toshibas and I'll have a PS3 on launch day.

Down the line, if it looks like Blu-Ray will still be the winner as expected, then I'll pick up a stand alone when Denon brings their first "next gen" offering to the table.

Sanitarium 01-08-06 01:11 PM

I waiting for a player that will play both formats. There should be one out within 1-2 years after both are released.

Josh H 01-08-06 01:20 PM

Whichever wins out. Not early adopting either. Waiting for a winner and cheap prices on par with current dvd players and disc prices.

kitkat 01-08-06 01:25 PM

I have no idea. I'm probably a couple of years out, at best, from buying either.

DthRdrX 01-08-06 02:06 PM

Blu-ray

matome 01-08-06 03:06 PM

Blu-Ray.

Brian Shannon 01-08-06 03:18 PM

Neither one.

Dazed 01-08-06 08:05 PM

Blu-Ray (with a PS3)

If it wasnt for the PS3 id wait until one of them became the 21st Century Betamax.

Spiky 01-08-06 09:04 PM

Both, if they survive long enough to have a decent combo player.

Just Lurking 01-08-06 09:59 PM

Whoever is doing better when holiday season comes around.

bryce0lynch 01-09-06 09:05 AM

Whichever one works with the new Mac Mini.
