For decades, Ken Russell’s “The Devils” has been treated like a cinematic blasphemy that Warner Bros. would rather keep locked away. A masterpiece of religious hysteria, political rot, sexual repression, and white-hot institutional violence, the 1971 film has been chopped up, buried, bootlegged, debated, and chased by cinephiles who knew its reputation long before they could actually see it properly.

That may finally change. Warner Bros.’ new Clockwork label, presenting more arthouse and indie films, will present a new 4K restoration of Russell’s director’s cut of “The Devils” as an official selection of Cannes Classics, followed by a select North American theatrical release beginning October 16 for an exclusive one-week engagement. For a film that has been long AWOL from cinemas and official DVD/home-video circulation in any widely accessible form, this is not just a repertory event. It is one of the most significant restoration announcements in years.

The film stars Vanessa Redgrave as Sister Jeanne, Oliver Reed as Father Grandier, and Gemma Jones as Madeleine. Written and directed by Russell, “The Devils” was produced by Robert H. Solo and Russell, with music composed and conducted by Peter Maxwell Davies, cinematography by David Watkin, editing by Michael Bradsell, costumes by Shirley Russell, and sets designed by Derek Jarman.

Family secrets, shocking revelations, and a commitment to uncovering the truth are all key components of a good mystery. Harlan Coben is known for exploring these themes in his thrilling books and shows — and delivering jaw-dropping reveals in the process.

Along with showrunner and co-creator Robert Hull (Quantum Leap, Alcatraz), the bestselling author is bringing his novel I Will Find You to Netflix on June 18. Starring Sam Worthington, Britt Lower, and Milo Ventimiglia, I Will Find You is an odyssey you won’t want to miss.

The eight-episode series, adapted by Hull from Coben’s 2023 novel of the same name, follows Worthington as David Burroughs, who’s wrongfully serving a life sentence for murdering his son. But when he receives word that his son may actually be alive, David embarks on a truth-finding mission that leads him out of prison and into a world of deceit and despair.

He passed away yesterday as far as I can tell. He was easily one of my favorites when it came to new sleeve/slipcover art for this hobby. :(

His recent work on Arrow’s releases of the Golden Princess Hong Kong films beat the other boutique offerings hands-down (I don’t mind Shout using original HK poster art, either, but they alter them a bit too much).
Ted Turner, the media mogul who cut a brash and vivid figure on the American scene of the late 20th century by dominating the cable television industry, creating the 24-hour news cycle with CNN, and extending his restless reach into professional sports, environmentalism and philanthropy, died on Wednesday at his home near Tallahassee, Fla. He was 87.

Phillip Evans, a spokesman for the family, confirmed the death. Mr. Turner announced in 2018 that he had Lewy body dementia, a progressive brain disorder.

From New Line Cinema comes the latest high-stakes installment in the blockbuster video game franchise in all its brutal glory, Mortal Kombat II. This time, the fan favorite champions—now joined by Johnny Cage himself—are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.

Karl Urban stars as Johnny Cage, alongside Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, with Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion.

Director Simon McQuoid returns to helm the follow up to his explosive 2021 cinematic adventure, from a screenplay by Jeremy Slater, based on the videogame created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. The film is produced by Todd Garner, E. Bennett Walsh, James Wan, Toby Emmerich and Simon McQuoid, and executive produced by Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Jeremy Slater, Ed Boon and Lawrence Kasanoff.
Unless you really don't care for this IP, I think for fans of the games and movies, this is likely review proof. They are going to go regardless.

I'm seeing it in IMAX Thursday night.

Posting the thread now because the early IMAX fan screenings start tomorrow. In case anyone here plans to go.

I've seen fans, bot YouTubers who saw preview screenings post about this on TikTok and they all said it's better than the 2021 movie.

Here is the merch that will be available. The production slate and Shao Kahn popcorn buckets are cool as hell, but I would have a bitch of a time trying to find somewhere to display them.
I know most of you who see this stuff think the people that buy them are crazy, but these will almost certainly sell out by the weekend
For 80 years, World War II has remained the most devastating and defining conflict in human history. Coming in May 2026, The HISTORY Channel's World War II with Tom Hanks is a landmark documentary event that reexamines the war through the lens of a new century. Told over 20 hours and guided by Hanks, whose lifelong passion for this history has shaped some of the most profound screen portrayals of the era, the series captures the full arc of the war—from the rise of fascism in Europe to the fall of Berlin, from Pearl Harbor to Hiroshima, and the uneasy peace that follows.

Each episode uncovers new dimensions of the conflict: the decisions that shaped the battlefield, the unseen networks that sustained the war effort, and the aftershocks that still shape our world today. World War II with Tom Hanks is the definitive retelling of that story for a new generation: a sweeping, deeply human portrait of how the modern world was forged in the fires of global war.

The National WWII Museum was proud to support HISTORY's work on this series through historical research, educational outreach, and archival footage, as well as on-site interviews with WWII veterans that will be featured as part of the network’s “Save Our History” initiative.

I've lost count on how many times I have tried to watch Godfather III (Theatrical and Coda) and it just doesn't work for me. Same director and cinematographer, Mario Puzo in for the story. So, it looks and feels like I and II, but something is just off (and it's not Sofia, lol). I'm watching as I write this post, and I still can't pinpoint why it just doesn't hold my interest.

Maybe not having Duvall was too much to overcome. It just never clicks with me. It's not that I think it's bad, but it's just missing that something that allows me to watch part I and II over and over.

So, what movie in a series or genre that you love have you given multiple chances but just can't seem to get into?
