New Gaming section possibility?

I've noticed in the Entertainment section there isn't a forum for gaming, like board games, card games, etc. Is it possible to get one started?

There is a thread, but that's it.

Board games

Yeah, I saw the board games thread in Other a long time ago, I just thought there should maybe be one place to start threads about other types of games.

Nothing? No admins or even mods want to weigh in on this?

The brass here took years to add a cooking/food forum, even though that was a topic of discussion in various threads every day. I don't see a lot of discussion around here about card games (though maybe there could be!), and I'm not sure what else would be covered by this new forum. Cornhole, lawn darts, and shuffleboard?

Magic the Gathering, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and by way of board games, there's certainly a ton of them out there. So not so much games as gamING.

If we can be supplied with enough threads to "seed" the forum, I can make it. Otherwise, would have to come up with an alternate solution

I'll work on starting a general Magic the Gathering thread in the next few days. There's a couple different sites where you can play using webcam that I play on a few times a week. Maybe some dvdtalkers could link up and play sometimes in addition to having a spot on the site to discuss MTG stuff.

Re: New Gaming section possibility?

There's an awful lot to talk about with each game that if we tried discussing everything in a general thread, topics would get lost pretty quick. If we maybe started each thread with the name of the game we're talking/asking about, like "MTG:" or "Pokemon:" or so on, I think that would be a better way to seed the forum.

When you say threads to "seed the forum", are you talking having us go ahead and start threads elsewhere and move them to the new section when you start it?

I wonder if Wordle and other online games would fit here.

I also thought about jigsaw puzzles, but there’s probably not much to discuss there. :)

I don't know that Wordle would be considered "gaming". Magic, Pokemon, board games, anything that needs to be played in groups.

And you can also take posts from existing threads to form into those threads. Use the Report Post button and ask mods to move all the related posts into appropriate threads.

Re: New Gaming section possibility?

I completely understand what you're saying, but couldn't you just make a Gaming section, and we can just start posting threads in there, instead of having to move stuff around?
