Re: Format change?

I have a dumb workaround with a big caveat.

- view the crappy new version of the site in desktop mode on your phone/tablet
- open the browser's settings menu and select "Desktop Site"

This forces it to use the original Desktop-on-mobile layout instead of the new Desktop-on-mobile layout.
But the caveat is that it applies this setting to ALL sites. So if you go back to a different site that actually has a competent (sorry) mobile mode you want to use, you may be stuck in desktop mode until you go back into the Browser settings and select "Mobile site" again.

So yeah, not great.

And I still can't see the cookies bar that is supposed to be at the bottom, that we're supposed to accept for this to be miraculously fixed. I've erased cache, logged in and out, etc.

Anybody have a solution to the embedded stuff not working with firefox on desktop? Or should that be a separate feedback thread?

I've got the same issue .. .a ton of empty posts in the political meme thread. I'm on Chrome on a Mac, if that matters. I don't recall anything about denying cookies, though chrome might do that by default in some cases, maybe?

If you have Safari, would you be able to take a look there and see if there's a difference?

No, it can go here. Likely same root cause. If you have Edge/IE or Chrome on your device, could you see if embeds are functioning there?

Doesn't work in Chrome. Does work in Edge.

In chrome dev tools I see a bunch of stuff blocked by CORs:
Access to XMLHttpRequest at 'https://adserver-us.adtech.advertising.com/pubapi/3.0/9546.1/4814535/0/-1/ADTECH;v=2;cmd=bid;cors=yes;misc=1661532143025;' from origin 'https://forum.dvdtalk.com' has been blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.

but that's on ads (and this is an incognito browser with no login so cookies shouldn't be an issue, nor is ad blocking)

I also see this:
rocket-loader.min.js:1 A parser-blocking, cross site (i.e. different eTLD+1) script, https://cdn.cookielaw.org/consent/6a...OtAutoBlock.js, is invoked via document.write. The network request for this script MAY be blocked by the browser in this or a future page load due to poor network connectivity. If blocked in this page load, it will be confirmed in a subsequent console message. See https://www.chromestatus.com/feature/5718547946799104 for more details.

which I assume is the cookie pop up?

Oh, gotcha. I'm on a desktop, and don't surf anything on a mobile device.

Firefox, current version. Windows 10.
The next page in threads also doesn't load. It used to load the next page when scrolling, now I have to click for the next page.

Btw on Chrome, I'm seeing a lot of this:

The network request for this script MAY be blocked by the browser in this or a future page load due to poor network connectivity. Sadly this forum doesn't work at all for me with Safari on my mac. The page doesn't even load. it hangs like this:
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...65508e8f99.png
I tried firefox too, and embeds aren't showing up there either.

Good news is that it all works on Opera though! :) (that's a brand new install with no plugins though)

Yup, these are the same two errors I posted above that I'm getting too (in chrome dev tools)

Re: Format change?

firefox error messages are a bit different, maybe this helps:
There's a bunch of these:

Cookie “_ibt” does not have a proper “SameSite” attribute value. Soon, cookies without the “SameSite” attribute or with an invalid value will be treated as “Lax”. This means that the cookie will no longer be sent in third-party contexts. If your application depends on this cookie being available in such contexts, please add the “SameSite=None“ attribute to it. To know more about the “SameSite“ attribute, read https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/W...ookie/SameSite
and

The resource at “https://cdn.permutive.com/f389d50a-3...528bea-web.js” was blocked because content blocking is enabled. 638078-random-political-meme-meme-adjacent-social-media-posts-thread-939.html
(content blocking enabled is referring to firefox's built in blocking)
and one of these:

Uncaught TypeError: o.childNodes[(o.childNodes.length - 1)].childNodes[0] is undefined

We are currently working on doing a manual switch of some cookies. I guess some were categorized incorrectly

Are you guys still working on this? I started using Opera to view this site, because embeds were working there for me, but just noticed that they aren't working in Opera anymore either :(

Not when viewing that shot; usually read non logged-in
I see them there now behind log in. Musta been recent change

Yes, you caught it right as I did it, pretty much. A new Google Algorithm update forced us to hide the off-topic forums to only be viewable when logged in

Hey Joel, I tried Clearing all Cookies and data in my mobile browser settings and I can see embedded Tweets in the Mobile view again now.

Still broken for me on desktop. Anyone else have success on desktop? I tried incognito and logging in through there. I did select "do not sell my personal data" for cookies though.

I see embedded tweets and youtube videos on chrome. Where's the 'do not sell' preferences for cookies? I can try toggling

We recommend everyone clear their cookies for the site now, as we rolled out some cookie categorization changes (this may log you out, so be sure to know your password)
