New Post button takes me to messages I've already read

I come to this forum pretty much everyday and really like the ability to click on the 'Go to first new post' link for a thread. The thing is, it seems like more and more, I click on that link and it will take me to messages I've already seen. Usually there are actually new messages, but I have to scroll past a few I've already read. But then there's even times when I've already read all of the messages.

Is this a known issue? Anything I should be doing differently?

Is this on mobile or desktop skin? And do you have Infinite Scroll enabled or no? And finally, is it usually threads with a lot of photos/videos/embedded media?

I have been having the same issue. I only browse on a desktop and I have infinite scroll enabled. I don't think it usually has to do with lots of embedded media.

Desktop with Infinite Scroll enabled. I don't think it's specific to ones with embedded media, but I'll try to keep track going forward.

It just happened on https://forum.dvdtalk.com/hd-talk/63...s-edition.html
It took me to post 51, even though I already read all of the posts in that thread

Try turning off Infinite Scroll. That fixed my apparently unrelated problem.

If you've already read all of the messages in a thread, you shouldn't have a button for "Go to First New/Unread Post". That said, "Go to last post" worked for me on that one and sent me to post 55.

Hm... Do you have another one I could check? I do agree with Nick Danger that the most likely solution is to simply turn off Infinite Scroll, but if you're a big fan of that feature, I can try testing more.

This one just took me to post 40 even though I know I saw at least up to 43 before, but there were posts I hadn't read yet

OK, I was essentially able to replicate. I think the issue is that where exactly Infinite Scroll is not exacting in saving which post you're on, so you get sent to a few posts prior to the one you're caught up on.
