It only happens on the DVDTalk forum. And it happens when I'm loading a new page. Like when I go forward/back or submit a post. It doesn't happen all the time, just every once in a while. And sometimes it goes away on it's own, other times I have to close the tab.
Oh odd. Have you noticed a pattern at all on the kinds of pages? Just Forums or is it sometimes the front page content too? It's potentially an ad that's loading slow and if we can figure out which one it is, I can have them nix it.

Are they only posting it in the thread title? Or in the body? If it's the former, I don't know to what degree this can effectively be stopped.

The issue I'm pointing out is that members with no posts are allowed to start threads, making it easier for spammers to post and clog the forums. Before the updates, there was a post requirement before new users could start new threads. The pic I posted is a member with 1 post, which was the spam thread.

It seems it's not just the box that needs fixing but the smiley box as well as the "additional smilies" text is out of place.

No biggie though. I went back to Full CKEditor. The reason I had switched was because when pasting an article the text would appear huge (it would automatically add[h1]tags, but I found a solution. Clicking on the "Source" button first then applying the copy and paste works without adding the strange html tags.

Re: Jan. 3rd 2019 Upgrade Master Thread

IMHO there's not a single editor that works for all situations, "optimized" or not. We need one that works - for everything. If that can't be done then fix the "Standard Editor - Extra formatting controls" as it does work as before but has an edit box size issue *on some screens."

Essentially, when you switch to "Advanced" mode the edit box can not drug to the width of the screen as before. The max is maybe 1/3rd (at least on my screen). It can be pulled down as far as you want but it can't be pulled across.

Replying to a post presents an editor interface like the "Advanced" mode - unable to pull the edit window to screen width.

I'd think that should be easy to "fix" as the width can be adjusted properly if you edit an already created post which means the code is there, just not in all locations.

Use the mobile skin, which is optimized for mobile viewing.

You may use whichever text editor you wish; just be advised that some functionality will not appear in some editors, and only the Full CKEditor is supported, so if you have any issues when using the others, we can't help.

Then *fix* the "Full CKEditor" so it shows colors properly. If I edit a post created with another editor that has color applied it does not show in that editor.

This is RED in the "Standard Editor - Extra formatting controls" (and shows the code that is is and shows as red on screen) but if I switch to "Full CKEditor" and try to edit the post it shows as normal black letters. If I've used several colors I have no idea which colors are on what letter unless I remember.

Example: RGB doesn't show the individual colored letters in the "Full CKEditor."

And if I subsequently edit that post with the "Full CKEditor" it gets royally messed up changing the color name to $amp in the color command.

I hear you whotony, I can't stand the mobile skin on my tablet, it looks ugly and stupid. Fortunately, the full skin looks OK on my tablet, I just wish it would stop trying to switch back to mobile skin, I hate that.

Also hate the drop down menus right above the links to go back to previous (or the main) forum page(s). I always use those links to go back to a previous or the main page, it's easiest for me, but I'll inadvertantly move my mouse cursor a tad too far up and the drop-down menu gets in my way. Happens more often than I care to admit.

Re: Jan. 3rd 2019 Upgrade Master Thread

The drop down menu at the top always moves a smidge just as it opens and sometimes if I forget to wait a millisecond I then click the wrong forum.

Sorry it took me a while to respond to this. I've been trying to find a pattern. But it doesn't happen too often.

It only happens on the Forum pages. Usually when I hit Submit Reply on the Reply to Thread page and I also have the site open in multiple tabs. The submission will hang and I'll get that error message. But if I close the other tabs, it'll finish.

Are Wikiposts still being fixed? I went to my Drive-in Challenge from last year to port over and my Safe List Wiki is gone and replaced by some MiniFAQ or something.

That FAQ showed up on many threads, replacing their original wikis. Some of our old wikis moved to random threads, but the last I heard there is no way to track them and fix them except for us manually finding and moving them. Pretty sure many wikis are forever lost in the ether.

Can you embed Instagram posts? I used to be able to post it without any issue before the update.

Yes, you should be able to embed instagram posts with no issue. You would need to use a desktop or a laptop.

So I no longer have the ability to emb Instagram posts before the update on iOS? Does that applies to YouTube embedding too? I need a desktop or laptop and cannot do it on mobile?

You can embed instagram posts. You just need to go to instagram.com to get the url. You cannot embed using the instragram app.

Re: Jan. 3rd 2019 Upgrade Master Thread

For whatever reason, asterisks were being added to my post, found here: https://forum.dvdtalk.com/other-talk...l#post13517664

I actually typed the asterisks in the *edit* portion, but any others that are found in the body of the post were not typed by me.

Is this issue still occurring? Are you using an Apple product. This was consistently happening to users using Apple products.

I haven't noticed it on any posts, since, but I am (and was) using a PC running Windows 7 and Chrome.

Whenever I add a Twitter link, the words I type afterwards continue to be hyperlinked. Simply copying and pasting the embed code doesn't work for me either.
