 I need to get this book!!

I actually came to mention the unread post time warp thing, but it seems to have been addressed already.

The mobile site is light years better than it used to be.

It does seem to self correct (so far) as you get through the threads again.

I can edit my wiki now, so that's good, and as others have said, the last couple weeks worth of posts have all been marked unread

Re: Jan. 3rd 2019 Upgrade Master Thread

Yeah I'm also experiencing the forum glitch with threads going back to 2 weeks being marked as Unread.

Re: Jan. 3rd 2019 Upgrade Master Thread

So all the old wikis are lost forever I guess?

Yeah, I’m doing this too on Safari/iOS. Stuff going back to at least Jan. 9 is all marked as unread.

And even after browsing the forum and coming back hours and hours later the same threads that were marked unread that I chose not to read are still labeled unread. It is almost like it went so far the other way that I cannot know what is truly unread now.

Same here

Same here. On safari.

Re: Jan. 3rd 2019 Upgrade Master Thread

Same. 19 pages of "New Posts".

Also, I like how New Posts now actually shows new posts and not just a list of posts from a time period. For example, if I reply to a thread and hit New Posts again, that thread will not show at all. Before it would still show and just not be bold text.

IMHO, that is the desired outcome.

If I haven't read them, I don't want them marked as read, unless I specifically choose to 'Mark Forums Read' under the quick links menu.

Last night I read all the threads I was interested in, then I marked the forums read. This morning I only see bolding on threads with new content.

Yes, I had the initial issue of the older threads showing as unread, but I expect that's a one-off to do with the configuration change.

How do you mark forums read on mobile (short of hamburger=>View Full Site=>go to the main forum index=>scroll down=>Mark All Forums Read=>scroll down again=>View Mobile Site)?

There's another forum I read that has semi-infinite session lengths where nothing is ever marked as read unless you explicitly mark it as such, and maybe I'm in the minority here, but I hate it. (Beyond that, another forum has long session lengths and no ability to mark forums read, which is even worse.) I tend to open everything I'm interested in reading in multiple tabs, though, so I don't really get confused about what I've read and what I haven't.

I'm surprised the mobile version doesn't have the same option, but I only browse this forum on my PC.

I do the same (opening everything I want to read in multiple tabs), but only per subforum. I.e. I'll go to 'Other' and open the threads I want to read in separate tabs. Then I'll read those and then go to 'TV Talk' and repeat.

No option to mark as read on mobile, unfortunately. I want to give this until the end of the week, because I switched thread marking fro cookie-based to database-based. Tech said that likely both are kind of active for a couple of days. I'll email you if you want more info, I know you're savvy.

Re: Jan. 3rd 2019 Upgrade Master Thread

There is a mark in the "new posts" search that shows which threads were not read but not updated from your last visit:
The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts.
and everything above that is probably what we are used to as "new" posts. Of course, you'll have to go page by page to find it.

Re: Jan. 3rd 2019 Upgrade Master Thread

Wikis seem to have been randomly inserted in all the wrong threads. I worked on fixing a few of them, but it’d be nice to hear the official word on what is happening with them. Will they auto-corrects some how? Are they screwed forever? Is it safe to create and edit them now?

Personally, I'm a big fan of the way that unread posts are now working, once I got past the initial glut of everything from the beginning of the year being marked as unread.

How did you get past it? I'm still showing 19 pages of new threads.

But that includes threads you have never and will never click on. Look down your first or so page of new threads and you’ll see a divider line separating threads you’ve never visited, from threads you have visited that have new posts.

As I mentioned, above... 'Mark Forums Read' under the quick links menu

Re: Jan. 3rd 2019 Upgrade Master Thread

I get that but I like being able to quickly see how many threads had activity since the previous day. Now I actually have to pay attention when going through new posts rather than just seeing the 2-3 pages of threads I'm interested in.

Thanks; didn't see the first post. But will "new posts" accumulate back up or will the site properly show only threads with new posts going forward? For example, the few I see now after marking everything; will those still show as threads with new posts tomorrow AM?
