main forum page is slow when coming from another site

it's fine once I get to the forum but coming from any other sites this place is slow to load

I'm not seeing that on my machine. Can you try clearing your cookie for this site (if you don't want to clear all your cookies)? Also it could be a DNS issue in your cache. You could try a flushdns if the cookie trick doesn't work.

Can you provide an example?

It could be that the site you're talking about doesn't link directly to DVD Talk; they may be bouncing through a tracking URL, and that could be gumming up the works.
