I haven't seen anyone besides you mention problems with the desktop version of the site. Maybe you're just lucky.

Still getting hit. Fortunately I'm using the workaround which blocks the redirects and allows me to stay in the forum.

I would prefer the redirects stop though.

Go back through the posts in this thread. I, myself, have posted at least 2 reports of hijacks on the desktop site, and there have been others.

Re: Ads redirecting on mobile

Well let me ask you this, do you browse the forum without being logged in? Because I never do that, and I don't even get ads of any kind on the desktop site.

Re: Ads redirecting on mobile

Why would a user that uses a desktop not have an ad-blocker?

I don't get it? There are dozens of ways to protect yourself from malicious ads. Why browse the web naked?

Nothing wrong with surfing naked, but that doesn't have anything to do with ad-blockers.

So that the sites I read will continue to exist.

No.

It's only happened a couple times, and I visit several times a week, but it HAS happened.

Re: Ads redirecting on mobile

Not sure which of the two ads was the offender (I sometimes suspect it may just be the ad service itself), so I tried to get a screenshot showing both after getting a screenshot of only one..

Re: Ads redirecting on mobile

At least 2 or 3 times every time I visit the site there are redirects. I am not screenshot-ing all of them. I am catching some of them. I am trying not to capture duplicates. Here is a new one. Would someone please fix this for us.

Re: Ads redirecting on mobile

If anyone at IB needs more captures, I can provide them from iPhone. I'm not posting them unsolicited anymore since this PROBLEM seems to fall on deaf ears. I only tried once again because of the other problem where the default randomly changes from desktop site back to mobile sometimes.

The mobile site is unusable.

QFT. I quit even trying to browse the site on mobile awhile ago. You would think that's something IB would care about since making the site completely unusable on a platform such that people stop going to it would reduce ad revenue not increase it.

Re: Ads redirecting on mobile

I don't use an ad blocker on desktop, never really felt the need to. As for redirects though, never had an issue on desktop with Chrome either and i'm on the site multiple times a day.

Mobile is practically unusable though, and pretty ridiculous that it's been a problem for this long.

Re: Ads redirecting on mobile

Getting nailed by many of the same ads I've been reporting these last few weeks. If you are doing something about it, whatever action you are taking isn't working yet.

Re: Ads redirecting on mobile

Hi guys,

I'm well aware of the difficulty of the mobile site. I spent 90min yesterday doing testing for our tech team. And you are correct, our former approach wasn't working. At this point, we are looking into some 3rd party options.

Re: Ads redirecting on mobile

Well, I guess that's something. I hope you guys finally figure out a course of action to take. It's literally been a year and half though, so please make sure you follow through.

Re: Ads redirecting on mobile

Google pushed a Chrome update this week that stops Ad redirects on Android devices and Firefox didn't have the same issue. So uh rejoice!

I'm not the one that needs convincing, food chain doesn't stop with me. The good news is though, that the right people are now listening and taking action.

You'd think with all the complaints across all the forums IB owns, it wouldn't have taken this long... but if something is finally being done about it then great!

Re: Ads redirecting on mobile

The lack of popups has me curious. Was it a fix to the site or was it the update to Android Chrome?
