Re: How about a Streaming forum?
Putting it in Entertainment is a bad idea. I just watched Lost on Netflix. So I have to go to the Streaming forum to talk about it? It makes no sense.
How about a separate ebook forum, and if you read the ebook you can't talk about it in the regular Book forum? |

Streaming could be to talk about the streaming services and their programming (not the programs), but I don't know if it would get much traffic. |

I agree. TV should be for TV show discussion, Movies for Movie discussion.

What about for streaming-only programs? Netflix just added their first original series and we're sure to see more of that in the future.
Maybe it'd be best to create the forum and see how it evolves.

I agree. For instance, if you want to talk about the plot of a movie or TV show, you should post in the movie or TV forum (unless it's a streaming-only show, as mentioned). If you want to talk about how said TV show or movie is just out on Netflix, you should post in the streaming forum. Of course there will be overlap, but there already is in our existing fora, so who cares?

Re: How about a Streaming forum?
I just noticed this thread. I have thought for months that a streaming folder would be a no-brainer. I'm shocked it hasn't been added without needing to ask for it to be honest. I want to talk about Netflix all the time but never know for sure where to start a thread, or which preexisting thread to post in. So yeah, I'm all for it. I vote for Entertainment as well fwiw.

I think we have a consensus that it's a good idea, and it deserves it's own full forum.
There seems to be differing opinions on which section it should go under (Entertainment or DVD). I think people have made a good case for either location. Should we set-up a poll or take a vote? |
Re: How about a Streaming forum?
Thanks everyone for all the input.
I sent Paul a PM that we have a consensus for a Streaming Talk forum in the Entertainment Discussions section. |
Re: How about a Streaming forum?
Yes, since HD content is streaming through several services, coupled with the array of devices that now stream, a dedicated forum would be a useful addition. My $.02

As I mentioned earlier, there is some programming premiering on Netflix like House of Cards this Fall and Arrested Development in 2013. Since they are "Streaming Only" shows, ideally the place to talk about them would be in "Streaming Talk." However, I can see people ignoring that and posting a thread about it in TV Talk.
Now I do think threads like 'List of Netflix Exclusive Programming' would belong in the Streaming thread. |
Re: How about a Streaming forum?
^ That's obvious to me too. If the conversation is about the TV show itself, it should be in TV Talk.

Re: How about a Streaming forum?
I've recently re-flagged this thread to IB in order that they (probably Paul) can see how the conversation developed and take action further to the reported consensus.

Kinda tempted to go over and start a thread titled "first!" :)
Thanks, IBobi! |

Re: How about a Streaming forum?
Thanks IBobi and benedict! I really appreciate it.
These days I'm streaming more content compared to watching DVDs/Blus. So I hope it turns into a great place to talk about that stuff. |

One minor gripe. Shouldn't the description be changed from: The Place to talk about streaming video to: The Place to talk about streaming video and audio ? |

Thanks for creating the new forum!

Can it be added in the forum jump list at the top of the site? (It's already in the one at the bottom).

Re: How about a Streaming forum?
Had this question in a thread on the HD forum, looks like it would apply here. What can we discuss when it comes to ripping our dvd's for personal use? I understand methods of ripping the dvd's is a no no, but how about organizing and storage? or streaming those files to our TV's? Where is the line?
