TV talk needs work

with so many network series going on right now something needs to be done to organize it better

perhaps do like satelliteguys forum and have it split up by network:ABC;NBC;CBS;FOX;cable etc

with a TV talk still being available for general chit chat

Re: TV talk needs work

There are usually a lot of new shows premiering in the fall and it usually takes a few weeks to figure out which series will warrant enough discussion to merit an episode-specific thread or just one long series thread. Plus many of these new shows are already being cancelled.

The good thing about how the forum works is that the threads receiving replies are automatically pushed to the top so any threads/shows that no one cares about quickly fall off the first page.

It usually works pretty well for seeing the newest episode threads and discussion, but this is the busiest time of year as far as TV is concerned.

I like the concept (I'm all about being organized), but my only issue with that structure is that I might miss mention of a new show I wasn't aware of simply because I didn't look in the right sub-forum.

The one thing I would like to see in the TV Forum would be to have a subforum/archive for past episode threads. So once the latest episode thread pops up for a show, the one from the week before gets moved to the subforum. It would make it easier to find these threads at a later date once they drop off plus it would make it less confusing if somebody bumped an older one for whatever reason.

Not sure if I'm alone on this, but I just set my DVR for the show title. I have no idea what network they are on. So this would make it hard to find discussions on the show's I watch.

I kind of wish the episode thread starters would add links in a spoiler tag to the previous threads for the current season. I realize that would be extra work though (especially for DJariya!).

I'll see what I can do ;)

I still like what they use at Something Awful, where each thread is tagged, and you can filter threads easily. There's no need to use sub-forums.

So a thread would be tagged ABC and Drama, or FOX and Reality, or NBC and Comedy, and it would be easy to filter.

This. Win-win.

I'm pretty sure that would require a bit of extra work for IB and I doubt we'll see it.

Seems like many of these one-two response threads are started by one user, maybe they could ease up a little.
