Re: What's with the automatic titles in posts?
This is so silly.
#1.) It's not that big of a deal. Yeah, it's dumb, but for those complaining about clutter...don't look at it. It's on the far right of the post. It's making a mountain out of a molehill.
#2.) On the flipside, it seems really, really silly to implement something like this to artificially create more Google hits on a search.

Code:
<!-- icon and title --> <div class="smallfont"> <div align="right"><!-- google_ad_section_start -->.egnahc reaf eW<!-- google_ad_section_end --></div> </div> <hr size="1" style="color:#D1D1E1; background-color:#D1D1E1" /> <!-- / icon and title -->
Also, why the nested divs? <div class="posttitle"> would be more efficient and would let me have my own stylesheet to hide the damn things.

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
In order to properly implement this feature, you'll need to include a significant amount of content within the section targeting tags. Including insufficient content may result in less relevant ads or PSAs.

I agree that removing the hr tag and using a simple underline would be a great final step to de-cluttering, if possible.

If you hate these automatic titles, go to the feedback forum and say so!
And I'm not just complaining for complaining sake. I do like the icon change for threads that you have posted in.

If you click on the "go advanced" button on the bottom of the page, the titles return to being bold lines at the start of every post.

Re: What's with the automatic titles in posts?
I don't see how including it in a div is more efficient. It would be more flexable, but it would be less efficient.
That quote is concerning adsense, which as stated earlier has nothing to do with the reason for doing this.
That's because the right aligning and unbolding was a template change. Since vB 3.8 was just released and 4.0 is soon to follow, We'd like to do the least number of template modifications as possible. Changing it there too would just be one more issue down the road.

But we said to put an under or bottom border just under the title text. That would provide clear separation. Some of us just don't think the hr bar needs to extend all the way across the screen. Leave it just under the length of the title text.

Re: Teenage girls naked and ready for action
I know I speak for most of us when I say you should put the title on a marquee scroll in every post, with the dancing bananas on either side as bookends.
That would rock!!!

IB-Dick - Just a suggestion... I realize you probably can't fully blend the text color because it might be perceived as deceitful by the search engines but how about changing the text color so that it's just slightly darker than the background - still visible but not standing out so much.

I don't think they need to be lighter or harder to read. They actually serve a mild purpose as they are. The HR is still silly though.

Re: What's with the automatic titles in posts?
How is that deceitful? This page is about "automatic titles in posts" so having that title in the contents 20 times is deceitful how? This is a setting that's turned on by default with vBulletin that was at some point turned off. It's not like this is the only site that does it and it's not like we're trying to rank for terms that aren't relevant to the content of the page.
