I'm sure it's something we could get used to...just seems so redundant to see the thread title repeated over and over again as you scroll down.
Are we supposed to guess what the reason/benefit is behind the switch?

That's been turned off.
That was also done by me for similar reasons.
Yes.
Just kidding. This was done to increase the keyword density on the page. It should help with search engine rankings. The descriptions have been added to help categorize the content of the page and should help define the overall page hierarchy of the forum. Also done for search engine optimization.

Re: What's with the automatic titles in posts?
Also, just an FYI... Beyond the SEO aspect of the Re: stuff, I read an article probably a year back about optimizing a site for tabbed browsing, which has obviously become more and more popular over the years. It discussed the benefit of having those types of annotations on the page so that people bouncing between tabs don't have to scroll to the top of the page to remember the context of the thread they are reading (it was more about comment systems on blogs, but same general idea). My personal thought was "duh, just look at the page title," but redundancy is often a better approach.

Re: What's with the automatic titles in posts?
I personally think it is annoying.
I do have a different request that I think would be more helpful if only slightly. Can we have "thread Starter" under the username . Macrumors uses this and I have found it helpful when answering questions and responding to the right person and helps keep from someone else hijacking the thread.
p.s I also like post previews especially when it comes to forums with trade threads

No more quick replies for me...
... I for one can't stand the auto-included titles.
I will be making a conscious effort to remove them from my posts.
They are quite annoying, I know what thread I am in... I don't need to be reminded every post..
