I am new to the forums and I was just wondering why my signature was removed? all i had in it was a link to my music blog.

From the forum rules: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/forum-feedb...refresher.html

ABSOLUTELY NO:
• Spam or promotion of your personal site for advertising purposes
I know it's a fine line between linking for advertising and linking just to share but, especially w/ new members (who we don't know if they are spammers or not), we frown upon such things so I imagine that's why it was removed.

It's also not a blog... it's essentially a text file.

When a person signs up and makes several posts with an ad (not just a link, but a blurb touting the link) in their signature as well as having the site in their homepage, it appears advertising that site is a primary reason why they're here.

We give more leeway to members who have been here for a while because it's obvious that they didn't just sign up and post in order to advertise their site.

When people get upset that their signature was removed it tends to reinforce our initial impression.

I'm sorry if i came off at being upset about the removal of my signature, because i wasn't. I was merely curious and didn't realize the no advertising rule meant no websites in the signature. I recently came across this message board and really like it so far, and hope to waste many hours of my life here in the future :)

I didn't mean to imply that you seemed to be upset about it. Just that when people get really huffy about it it tends to validate our impression. We've had that happen and never saw the posters again. If your intent is to join our community, please do!
