Pop-up advertisements not getting blocked

I am receiving pop-up advertisements when I log in. My pop up blocker is on, but advertisements are still getting through. This is happening on two different computers.

That's kind of done on purpose.

Ad Block plus works very well for me, got it from the Mozilla Add ons site.

I used to have no problem with the ads here, I made DVDtalk an exception on my software so I could proudly support the site, but then there were pop-ups which I found intrusive and the ads that made noise and then the content driven ads with links in the middle of our own posts and I said screw it. Now I block every single ad on this site and don't regret it.

This is the only site where I get pop ups. Its a great feature of dvdtalk

You're not supposed to use an ad blocker on this site.

Last year DVDTalk was running ads that tried to install malware on people's computers. They should really take that out of the TOS.

Well really if I use ad blocking software, that's my business. If website didn't use obtrusive ads, people wouldn't be so inclined to go out of their way to install ad block software. And really, pop-ups are probably a great way to ensure less traffic on your site. All they do is piss people off. I'm surprised anyone bothers with them, any more, since every modern browser blocks them!

I'm also having the same problem and it is annoying as hell!

I can't search or anything until all the pop ups come through and I close the damn things. And then sometimes they still come up when I click a review or go to another sub forum.

What's worse about the pop ups is that it's usually one ad coming through numerous times! This assures that I will NOT bother supporting whatever is in the ad and I just close the damn thing instead.

This is the only site I'm having such problems with so far. Even the infamous Frontiers ad didn't piss me off as much as this. Mostly since unlike some people. I hardly accidently scrolled over the ad, which would then enlarge and play the trailer. So it was easier to ignore for me while reading the forums.

edited to ad, just tried accessing a few different reviews, and pop ups came up on each one. This is extremely annoying and counter productive. Since I want to read the reviews, not wait for ads to load before I can scroll down the page or click to another area of the site. Leave the ads on the sidelines and headline. If I see something I'm interested in, I MAY click on it and check it out.

I'll probably read less reviews because of this, and may visit the site less as well. Which isn't exactly good for the website, if it drives more people away than to it.
