Am I the only one that hates private messages?

Am I the only one that hates private messages?

I know that this may not be totally appropriate for this forum, but I wasn't sure where else to put it.

I really dislike the severe limitations of PMs compared to email; the 30 message limit, and the 1000 character limit.

I also don't like having another inbox to keep up with. I have all my email accounts going to one inbox, and email is so much easier to print/archive/forward/search etc.

It's not that I don't want to hear from anyone here, it's just that the benefits of email are so much greater than PMs, I don't see why anyone would prefer a PM to an email.

I think I'm going to turn PMs off.

Can anyone enlighten me as to why we want PMs?

I love them. They're a lot more conveinent, and the email system on the boards doesn't always seem to work too well. I don't like the limits imposed on them, though.

I thought this board didn't have them. Apparently I have them turned off. I'm keeping in that way.

Yep, so much for my vote counting for much.

I like having all my information and exchanges in one place, email. It is a lot easier to track conversations, trades, whatever, when you have them in email as opposed to the hard to search and store PMs.

But I suppose this preference is just another manifestation of my OCD.

Well, that settles it. I'm taking the Twikoff option.

Mr Music, I'll print and frame your PM, my last one ever.

Whoo hoo!!!

Did you actually get it?

I don't like this board's PM system... can't tell if someone received it and if they read it.

Oh well... I don't use it much either... I think it was only my 3rd PM sent... forum posts and emails are so much better... at least on this forum.

Edited to add :

But I would rather PM someone on this forum than email them... just wish I knew more about how this forum's PM system works.

Personally I like them. It's an easy way to get in touch with someone if I don't have their email addy. I try not to send out too many and keep them short and to the point.
