I quoted it in my reply to your earlier post because your seemed to be suggesting that the lack of response was "lame".

Given what had already been posted, and taking into account your own comments, I was genuinely intrigued as to who else you were expecting to reply.

Anyhoo, an answer that I've seen several times over the years in Feedback when people raise questions is that the topic is under discussion in the moderator forum and that these things can take some time.

Part of that is down to Geoff having a lot on his plate and not being in a position to drop everything to arrive at an instant decision. That was the point of posting the, to me, illustrative "day in the life" quote.

The irony is that, in trying to smooth over the somewhat aggressive nature of one or two of your posts both by alluding to those earlier replies and by pointing out the lack of coherence that I'd perceived, from your latest reply clearly I have failed abjectly! And, along the way, I've earned the dubious sobriquet of having made a "witty post" and possessing "all the answers".

Given such a sorry showing on my part, I can only guess that nobody will be asking me to moderate in Politics any time soon! Which, in the circumstances is kind of funny because I'm probably somewhat to the left of most of the people posting hereabouts.

I must admit it is posts like yours that make it so much fun being a mod here. Does the fact that there are 2-3 mods that are either on hiatus or busy with personal life really affect you that much? If sfsdfd were to never post here again...would it really affect your sleep tonight if he was kept on here as a mod anyway?

I don't get it. 2 or 3 mods left (ok, heimer didn't leave), but it hasn't even been alleged that there's been a lack of moderation in that forum, or that the moderation has been poor. It's simply the fact that 7 mods are listed but only 4 participate or mod? WOuld removing the 3 names make you happy? Then the only mods listed would be mods who actually post in that forum? You're getting all fired up about a problem that, by your own admission, isn't a problem. :hscratch:

Considering the ideological bent of the OP that's a given, but it doesn't follow that a conservative-leaning poster would't have started a similiar thread at some point.

I'll answer the question then: No, they will not be replaced.

It is possible more mods will be added in the future or current mods will retire, but mods will never be replaced. Our moderator staff is irreplacable (except for me, any day laborer can do my job).

I think in some ways we're making a mountain out of a molehill here. Hopefully, everyone will chill out a bit so we can discuss this calmly.

You gave your feedback. Other people gave contrary feedback. I can't say what your actual thought process is, but it appears to an outside observer that you took umbrage to their disagreement, and you in turn blew the entire issue (or nonissue) out of proportion.

I wonder how long "certain members" would last under different moderators.

What exactly was "blown out of proportion" by me? I'm still wondering the exact same thing I was wondering when I started the thread. 3 mods are listed who no longer exist apparently. Will they be replaced? Its a SIMPLE question which was followed by sarcasm and personal attacks.

This feels strangely like an Art thread.

Here are your answers (again):

1. I am still here, which means I exist. That leaves 2 mods.
2. The 2 remaining mods will remain as mods unless they request otherwise on their own, or they do something stupid and are subsequently removed.
