Are all the mods on vacation?

Ok, title is a bit tongue-in-cheek, I'm not disparaging anyone here.

I've noticed that there seems to be a randomness to how "diligent" or "picky" the mods are on thread management.

In the past, we've had months where threads would be closed or merged if someone started a 2nd thread on a title/topic. Usually with polite reminders for thread starters to do searches, and with links to the proper thread.

But lately, anything and everything seems fair. We have about 12 active threads about the new Heroes release.

I've been "the bad guy" and mentioned this in a couple of the threads, and while some have agreed with me, some newbies seem to think that it is ok to have multiple threads and that they shouldn't be expected to read entire threads, but just titles. I've reported a couple to mods for duplication, and no action has been taken.

Is there an official change in direction on the forum?

Are the mods just on a literal vacation, or too busy?

Am I out of line for wanting things to be like they used to be? 12 threads is just ridiculous.

^^^ I’m with you all the way. They’re doesn’t need to be 12 different threads for Heroes. I bet they’ll be gone soon though, like those 100 different Grindhouse threads awhile back in the MovieTalk forum.

Nope we're here. Just light on staff. Need to add a new mod or 2.

Geoff, are mods compensated? If not, what are the time requirements?

It's a volunteer position.

I'm on here all day at work. Let me be a mod. I've been here forever! :)

Plus, I hang out in almost every forum.

I always figured it would be one of those things where you can't volunteer yourself, but just get an email from The Man one day asking for your help.

Please don't make Bandoman a mod. He sold me an hour's date for my Good Burger and Rola Reent DVD... and never showed up!
