Web filter considers buttons as spy-ware
Here at work, they just installed Barracuda Web filter, to help block spy-ware. But it is considering all the buttons in the forums as spy-ware. I assume due to the word "ads" in all the file names. Its no big deal, but just a heads up.

Well it does say in the forum rules that you aren't suppose to have any ad blocking software.

That rule mostly went by the wayside in terms of enforcement, and there's not an issue here since it was installed at his work rather than by himself anyway.
That said, that is the issue stingermk. The buttons come from the ad servers, so many things that have any kind of ad blocking (spyware program, firewall, specific ad blocking software etc.) are going to block the buttons. I'm sure they deliberately put the buttons on the ad servers just for that to happen to create a deterrent to using such programs. If it was your home system, you' just have to put the ad server on your allowed list, but you're probably not going to get the IT people at work to do that (or even what to ask them to do it). |
Yeah it doesn't bother me, just curious. And I don't want to alert IT I'm on DVDtalk so much :) But I understand how the buttons would be added in to the ads, to deter blockers. Oh well, small price to pay, to use DVDtalk at work. Thanks!
