Does Anyone Here Have Problems Direct Linking a Buy.com Product?
When I try to direct link a Buy.com product, it doesn't lead to the correct webpage. It leads to a page that says:
Thank you for shopping at Buy.com. We're sorry! Due to the high volume of traffic we are experiencing at this time, we are unable to process your request. We apologize for the inconvenience and invite you to check back soon. Here is a test example: Planet Earth-Complete Collection: $59.99. |
test:
www.buy.com Yeah, it changes the URL for me too. Looks like the forum is replacing the url for some reason. http://www.anrdoezrs.net/click-28092...2Easp%3Fsku%3D This last time, I just typed www. buy . com without tags (or spaces) and it was replaced with the above. |
Presumably, DVD Talk is using anrdoezers.net to get some click-referral income for buy . com. The site automatically changes the text the same way it would alter any banned swear words. Unfortunately, it's doing it wrong.
If you wanted to paste a link to www. buy. com/prod/pans-labyrinth/q/loc/322/204297843.html and did it the normal way, you'd get http://www.anrdoezrs.net/click-28092...204297843.html I assume the part to the left of the "URL=" is some identifier for DVD Talk. The part to the right is wrong. Just replace it with the correct URL but URL-encode all the reserved characters. For example, / becomes %2F and . becomes %2E The resulting link should work |

Linking to buy.com seems to work now without all the runaround.
