I'm not sure if anyone has said this yet, but the new ads suck.

One more for "me no likey"

not that they interfere all that much, I'm pretty good at ignoring ads for the most part.. but I do think it is a little worrisome when you put ads inside people's posts, especially without any indictation that it is an ad. The div border seems like a decent compromise if these ads have to stay

Just to re-iterate. This new banner placement is <b>A Test</b>. I understand that it's wildly unpopular so far, but that's part of the test to see what people think. I'm planning on running the test for at least a week, probably till the end of the month and then look at the numbers and the feedback and decide if we stay with the new or go back to the old, or test a 3rd option.

We understand, Geoff. Please don't take most of us too seriously, we're just being our usual Otter selves. ;)

Why do you need to take a week? Clearly we all agree this ad sucks -- and if anyone out there has increased their click-through percentage, it's only because the ad's obnoxious presence RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR GODDAMN POST possibly caused someone to bang down on their computer in frustration.

Again, we all want you to make money, Geoff -- but both these inline ads, and the HD ads with killer sound, are doing it the wrong way.

Now I don't know if someone already mentioned it, but THIS THREAD (or a brand new one) SHOULD BE A POLL.

Unless there's a massive change in the opinion of the forum, it's going to remain on the "no" side. So really, I can only conclude that you're not waiting to see what people think, but that it's going to be purely an economic decision. This is fine, it's your site- but it would nice if you would just say that.

This thread / Poll would be much better served in Other by the way if Geoff wants actual feedback, heck I'd bet most people don't even realise there is a feedback forum

I agree the other is a hot spot, however, there's been nearly 4,000 views of this thread since noon yesterday! :eek:

That is awesome Breakfast with Girls. Thankfully no one is around or they'd think I'm insane right now for laughing so much.

Oh, and the ads still suck. I'm trying to get used to it, but it's just making the first posts of threads impossible to read. There's gotta be a better way.

blah.. the ads inside a post are terrible..
i can get use to ones between posts, because i dont mind scrolling.. but i dont see getting use to ones stuck inside posts, they are just confusing clutter

The wording is totally biased.

Nobody likes ads. I prefer the in-post ads to those abominable between-posts ads.

They're annoying, but i'd get over it.

I for one welcome our new advertising overlords!

I don't mind it. The site and its services are free for users, and have to be funded in some way other than membership dues. I don't like the sound ads, because I like to listen to music and read the forums, but other than that, I'm all for keeping this place free of charge.

Geoff all you have to do is threaten to return to the FearDotCom ads. :lol:

I'm in agreement with the majority of replies in here, in that I don't like the new ads. As most have said, it can screw up formatting, and it also makes it look like the OP endorses that product.

However, I also understand that Geoff needs to make money to keep the site alive, and if this is how he chooses to do it, I'll support that. I'd also support him monetarily if he ever sets up a subscription service to get an ad-free experience.
