pilot 06-22-06 11:37 PM

time might be off on one of the servers ..could have been posted on one and replied to on another..Geoff would have to look into it..

Rockmjd23 07-11-06 12:30 PM

This seems to be happening more lately.

The Bus 07-11-06 12:32 PM

pilot, do you think this is a server issue or a client issue? Who will have to look into it?

Yes, it is. Just happened to me, and I've seen it on just about every post today.

digitalfreaknyc 07-11-06 04:27 PM

Yep. Happens to me a lot lately as well. Just happened in the HD forum.

Yes it is particularly brutal on us fast responders who don't think before we type. :)

Sync the times on the app servers

LurkerDan 07-12-06 11:16 AM

particularly wacky in this thread: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=471403 where the first post in the thread is not the OP.

Josh H 07-12-06 11:18 AM

Probably related, just noticed that the last posts shown on http://forum.dvdtalk.com/index.php aren't really the last posts in the threads in some cases, even when refreshing.

And checking the threads, the posts are in proper order in there. Strange.

One example is the Klinsmann steps down thread in Sports Talk. Showing the last post by das monkey at 12:07, while I have a reply at 12:08 that follows his post in the thread.

I believe vBulletin (at least, the version of vBulletin on DVD Talk) creates the timestamp for each post in logic -- meaning it could vary if the times on different application servers are different -- rather than letting the database do that work. Kind of silly. I'll talk to Geoff and try to set up some way to automate updating the time on the box on a regular basis.

Excellent point, Buford T Pusser! I totally agree.

Rockmjd23 07-12-06 06:17 PM

I just posted in a new thread, the one about mancow, and my post appeared above the original article. So, I figured I would delete the post and repost so it would appear after. But when I did, it deleted the whole thread! Sorry chrisdefelice...

Draven 07-13-06 10:48 AM

Ooo...that's kind of a bad bug

*runs to post in every thread on the forum so I can delete them at will*

Very weird....

GeoffK 07-14-06 01:01 AM

should be fixed now, I've added a process to synch the clocks.

The Bus 07-14-06 07:39 AM

At least there's no Music Talk album draft going on. That would've been killer.
