It started as a new receiver topic and looks like it is going to turn into a "bash Bose" topic...the Home Theater section doesn't need another one.

Thanks.

you can always edit your first post and delete the whole thread (unless you want it to be locked and kept for posterity)

Taken care of. Thanks dick_grayson for the idea.

Yeah, there are so many threads on this forum that bash Bose. What are people thinking?! those speakers rock!

FinkPish 05-19-06 01:27 PM

I don't see how that was turning into a Bose bashing thread. You said you got a new reciever, and people were giving you recommendations for new speakers to go with it. A few people were voicing their opinions, but they are entitled to that. If you don't agree with what they are saying just ignore them. There isn't any rule that says you have to respond to every post made in a thread you create.

(and my response it moot now, since you went ahead and deleted the thread.)

I composed a (IMO) very thoughtful and balanced reply to your thread, which I was unable to post because you deleted it. I, of course, respect your opinion and understand that people have reasons for buying Bose products. However, you can't expect folks in the HT forum (many of whom are very passionate about their systems) not to pipe up when someone announces his intentions to buy Bose and admits that he hasn't compared them to anything else.

As soon as I opened the thread, I knew it was going to turn into Bose bash. Making simple suggestions is fine, but why trash someone else's system or speaker choice? I am quite certain the posters who were trashing Bose and providing the same tired links about Bose, do not have the greatest systems anyway...

However... since BP started a thread about the improvement of a new receiver and the difference in sound - I don't think there is anything wrong with posting suggestions on speakers that might also give the OP the same enjoyment and set up improvement. This can be done without trash talking Bose.

BobDole42 05-19-06 02:03 PM

I don't have a problem with Bose bashing. In fact, I don't think there is enough of it! As long as it is directed at the product and not the poster, of course. I don't think anyone said the OP was foolish for buying Bose, just that Bose was awful. Bose speakers are terrible. Everyone who knows a dinky-bird about audio knows that they are nothing but marketing.
