Subscribing to threads without posting

Is there any way that I can subscribe to a tread without posting something in it? Very often I will want to subscribe, but I have nothing relevant to contribute at that point in time.

If this feature does not exist, is it possible to add it? It may actually cut down on posts, as some people may post something useless just to be able to subscribe.

Just click "Thread Tools" on the upper-right corner of the thread, and you'll see the option there.

Got it, thanks.

This is something that's annoyed me for a while, but not enough to start a thread. Often I get to the bottom of a thread I find interesting and would like to subscribe, but I have to scroll all the way up to the top of the page. I have the number of posts per page set to the max, so in larger threads it's a lot of scrolling. I know it's a minor inconvenience, but it seems more logical to have the subscribe to thread button on the bottom of the page.

Just hit the "Home" key (while not focused within the quick reply box). That will take you back to the top of the page.

Yeah, that's true, but a lot of the time I'm lounging back in my chair, with only my right hand extended to maneuver the mouse. I'd be nice to have something right there to click, but like I said, it's a minor inconvenience.

Man, it's hard to convenience you.

Not really, I am merely wondering if there's a good reason to not have a link to subscribe at the bottom of the page. The argument das made would be just as appropriate if the thread page navigations or the quick reply box were only at the top of the thread, but I have a feeling more people would be upset about it. The only difference is you would use the subscribe link a lot less often.
