Anyone having problems with Firefox?

In the past couple of weeks I've been unable to use Mozilla Firefox to read and post to the fora here. Every time I do Firefox crashes. Sometimes it takes several minutes, sometimes far less time than that. I don't have this problem on ANY other website I visit.

I've been forced to regress back to using IE, wich is a major PITA. Anyone else having this problem? I'm using Firefox 1.0.6 on Windows XP Pro. I don't have this problem on my home computer, just at work.

I've been using firefox here for months and haven't had any problems. I'm also using 1.0.6 but on Windows 2000, by the way.

Prior to the past couple of weeks I'd been using it without incident since last October (when I started this job).

Dazed 09-17-05 03:10 PM

I get no crashes but I also dont see any of the buttons like Quote or Post Reply which is kinda sucky.

Im using FF 1.0.6.

you need to make sure you're not blocking the server ads.kleinman.com which is where all the images are stored.

I'm using firefox with no problems.

You've probably installed a glitchy extension.

I noticed this has been a problem as well. I actually unistalled ALL my extensions and themes and while it launches the program a little faster and takes care of some minor glitches, it's still not as fast (and ugh, I hate to say it.....as stable) as IE.

I'm seriously under the impression that as long as any other software program that tries to compete in a "big area" (i.e. browser) that is not affilated with Micro$oft is just not going to cut it.

Here's hoping for a future OS from Google ;)

Firefox works for me. I'm using version 1.0.6 on XP.

wendersfan 09-19-05 08:05 AM

Thanks for the suggestions from everyone, but I don't think any of those are causing my problem. I'm running the same version of Firefox at home, with the same settings and even more extensions, and it never crashes...

But thanks anyway. :)

I'm been having the exact same problems as well with Firefox. Sporadic crashes of the browswer only while viewing DVDTalk.

ChrisHicks 10-14-05 12:46 PM

how do I get Firefox to stop blocking ads.kleinman.com? I'm using 1.04

Groucho 10-14-05 12:50 PM

Wenders, have you tried completely uninstalling Firefox, then installing it again vanilla (no extensions)?

No, but I may have to try that. In the meantime I've switched to Opera.

ScottyWH 10-23-05 08:30 AM

Opera tends to work better for me on problem sites than firefox... not to mention I happen to just like it better anyway, so had you not said you were already using it, it's what I'd have recommended.

I'm having the same problem as Dazed, I see the quick reply button, but not the rgeular reply button and only see quote buttons in a few posts, and no post new thread buttons :(

I'm using 1.06 as well

the same problem also occurs if I try IE

any idea how to fix this?

Bacon 10-23-05 04:01 PM

also no edit button

Ranger 10-23-05 04:33 PM

I finally admit that this site doesn't work that great with firefox, though I blame that on the scripts and ads here. :) DVDTalk does work better with IE and Opera, but I'm still using firefox anyway. I'm checking to see if the edit button shows up.

edit: the edit button is only there next to your own post, I'm not sure if this was a recent change. Haven't noticed it, other buttons seem to be working fine too.

Bacon 10-24-05 05:27 PM

Ignore my previous post

for those of you using mcaffeee security center

1. click on Privacy Service
2 click on configure privacy serivice options
3 then click on options
4 click block ads
5 uncheck the block ads on this computer

that's if you fail to see quote, edit or post now thread buttons

I never have any problems with it. IIRC, Geoff uses Firefox.

Ranger 10-24-05 09:09 PM

By not working that great, I didn't mean I actually had any problems, but the site just doesn't run as smoothly as it does with IE & Opera.
