i find pornography offensive, and i think dvd talk.com has too much.
You have a lot of adult/pornographic content at dvd talk, you also promote it heavily through your various link/adverts to adultdvdempire etc. I personally dont like it, and i find it offensive.
Wat i particuarly dont like about this site is the integration, (encouragement almost) and heavy promotion of the pornography, within the main site, as though its perfectly normal, no different to just another genre, eg zombie films, pornography, comedies. Pornography is different and should never become part of "mainstream culture" in my opinion. It should at least be better separated, if you must have it at all. In just one or two clicks a child could suddenly be looking at a hard core porn dvd review, and i think thats very wrong. |
Go to another site. Problem solved.

Is there any hardcore in the Feedback forum where this post belongs? I sure hope so. ;)

Welcome to thedigitalbits.com

I find your spelling offensive.

As I said to you in the feedback forum... welcome to the internet where porn is everywhere. Police your kids, not the whole internet.
Adult content is contained within the adult forum and the adult reviews section. Adult ads do not appear anywhere else at DVD Talk. And really, do you think kids looking for porn would really give a rats ass about a porn REVIEW? When I was a kid I didn't seek out issues of Adult Video News, I sought out Penthouse. |
I think we're a little fuzzy on the definition of "pornography."
|
I might concede though that giving such prominant placement to Suicide Girls might not be totally appropriate...

I somewhat feel the same way. I tend to use the "New Posts" search, and I always have to scan over to the "Forum" column to make sure I'm not about to click an adult thread when I'm somewhere I don't want to. This can be at work on break, or at home with my kid in the room when I see a thread title I am interested in, and don't want porno DVD banner ads blaring across the page when it loads. For example, the fully clothed Heidi Klum thread is in other, but I could see someone putting it in Adult, as many fully-clothed celeb threads end there. At work I often turn off images to begin with.
But I'm not saying I want it changed. I just adapt my behavior. But a "new posts except select forums" choice would be good. ;) I would exclude Adult and Exchange most times. The "New posts" search is just so tempting and easy to use there at the top of each page. |

Maybe the OP is Justice Potter Stewart. ;) |

Is that 'hi_mom' as in '420' and 'getting a drug high'? I find THAT offensive. Please have the mods change your name immediately or i'm leaving this site.

I find the smell of rotting flesh offensive. Please remove this corpse from my bed.

Thanks for the (few) attempts at serious replies so far, i dont expect everyone to agree with me, but the batch of juvenile responses/knee jerk reactions/flaming and trolling (see below) were rather predictable. |

Sorry, but I disagree with your fundamental premise and I disagree with your conclusion. The separation of adult content on these forums is some of the best I've ever seen for a site that has both on it. And in the end, it's about the money. Porn DVDs are a big money maker. The porn industry as a whole makes a lot of scratch. I'd say it's very close to the non-porn movie industry, in fact, if not exceeding it. If you don't want your children to see adult content, I recommend that you use filtering software or simply not allow them to access the internet. Your kids, your rules. However, if you are complaining about the possibility of somebody else's children seeing adult content, I would suggest that you leave their parenting to their parents. |
