What happened to these two threads in Movie Talk?

The War of the Worlds Review and Discussion

Fantastic Four Review Thread.

They are gone! Scott Sheldon started both of them. He better not have deleted them that son of a..................

That appears to be the case.

That's ridiculous. Can these be undeleted? There was a lot of really good discussion in the WotW thread (I diddn't read the other one). I think it's absurd that that can all be erased at the whim of the forum starter (especially generic discussion threads such as these).

Time for a rule change? Or perhaps for the moderators to start individual "Discussion" threads for new releases so this doesn't happen again?

Yes! The WOTW thread was about 14 pages if I'm correct. It's BS that he deleted it.

Apparently Scott Shelton can't take what he loves to dish out - random offensive abusive snipes and replies to other members. I and several others called him on being a jerk in so many posts in what I thought was a pretty respectful manner (far more respectful than most of his posts are to other members) and he promptly deleted the thread about ten minutes later. Very mature, dude. You sure your name isn't really "Pants"? (A flashback for old DVDTalkers)

He does come off quite rude in most of his posts. I guess he can't take it when the tables are turned.

I don't blame him for deleting the Fantastic Four thread. It was nothing but an undeserved dogpile.

Maybe people should handle this themselves by not taking the chance he'll delete any more threads he starts.

[Edit: Oops, must have had something else on my mind]

I think he needs to check himself before he makes anymore "review" threads.

But, X, think about it. Scott starts a "Breakin' 3 Reviews" thread. If I want to discuss Breakin' 3 without fear of being deleted, and start my own thread, it'll just get merged with his...so once again my posts will get lost because another member decided to take his ball and go home.

Remembering the past, I would be able to restrain myself from posting in it. But then not everyone would know about the potential consequences.

Perhaps if the ability to delete threads were removed from people who abuse it...

WOTW review thread?

I'm probably losing my mind, but I thought i saw a close to 400+ post thread on this film yesterday?
It's been on page one for the last week or so, with heavy traffic.

Even though there are 3 or 4 WoTW threads, I went back three pages and couldn't find this specific one.
Did a search, and once again came up empty.

Has it been merged or deleted, did someone post a bomb threat?

What gives?

I suppose I'm just teh suck at teh search

There was a topic asking this very same question in the Feedback board.

The creator of the original War of the Worlds Review Thread deleted the entire thread. He also deleted another review thread that he had created recently.

That's crazy.

mifuneral, thanks for directing me to the 'feedback' forum.

Interesting stuff, to say the least.

SS what gives?

Those threads were gold.

I had the same reaction to this. As you may remember when Barry started and then deleted a serenity thread because him and I weren't seeing eye to eye in the discussion I blew up on him.

I really think that threads should not be allowed to be deleted. Post, sure, why not. But threads themselves. No. Give that power to mods only. if a thread is a repost or repeat, let the mod delete it or just have the poster write in it "Discussion over there, ignore this thread" and just have folks move on

I hate that 14 pages were deleted because someone was getting uppity and couldn't handle what they were dishing out. For the most part, those review threads are always posted way to early and people wonder why there isn't any discussion in them yet. Because not everyone has seen it!

Wow, OK, so I'm not crazy either -- I knew I saw a HUGE thread on it!

Can't one of the moderators bring back the War of the Worlds thread? I remember when the Spoiler filled Episode 3 thread was mistakingly deleted, one of the mods was able to bring it back.

I can't believe he will go back and delete the threads because he wasn't agreeing with what was being said. How old is he? 10???

Do we know who that was?

I'd like to AVOID any future threads started by that person.

I can see him deleting the FF4 thread since it went south before the second page. But the WOTW thread must have deleted to piss people off. He didn't post anything in most of it.

Maybe we'll have to go the route of HTF with their dedicated discussion/review threads (which I believe get designated and locked in by mods) on movies to avoid childish behavior like this.

This is ridiculous! Other vBulletin forums I've been to usually have the "delete the thread" option turned off. I agree with Jack that threads should not be allowed to be deleted -- posts, yes. Threads, no.

Another request to resurrect the WotW thread.... how annoying!
