Does anyone proofread the reviews?
I'm guessing "no".
Case in point, the current review for Mary Pickford's Little Lord Fauntleroy. http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=14876 Here's the very first sentence: Mary Pickford, near the end of her life, thought that time had made her movies obsolete, and that no one would be interesting in seeming them any more. :whofart: Sadly, that's not the end of it. The review is replete with spelling and grammar errors. Just curious as to whether there is any kind of editorial staff that reads these reviews before posting them, or if they're simply shoveled onto the website once submitted. IMO, it takes the professional appearance of DVD Talk down a notch when things like this are put out there. |

That one is my fault. I was trying to finish that review, and write up Silent DVD in time for today's newsletter (in addition to work and other things that get in the way.) I just didn't proof it as closely as I should have. Thanks for the heads up. -John |
I'm here to help. :D

Concern for lack of concern
Dear Numanoid, I am as upset as you are. If I am reading a review on Little Lord Fauntleroy, I want to be able to understand the meaning of its content. The way I see it, Little Lord Fauntleroy had a lot going on in his life and I want to fully know the magnitude of his suffering. By the way, Mr. Numanoid, Why are you looking at the review of Little Lord Fuantleroy? P.S. I am not a lesbian trapped in a man's body and it does not count. I am a lesbian wannabee and no I don't have an editor to check this. I have no editor in my life.

I've noticed a number of those. I think the reviewers would do well to "buddy up" with another reviewer or regular member before the submit. It isn't a big deal, but it happens a fair amount. Then we could mock two people for not correcting the mistake. :D
