Can we do somtehing about linking to "Surprise Scary Pop-Up Ghost" videos?
I ask this on behalf of those of us who browse from work, as well as those of us who don't like being fooled into wasting time watching something that we were told was something else.
Can we get some kind of administrative action taken against people who think it's funny to link to those ridiculous videos where something innocuous is happening only to have a ghost pop up and scream at some incredibly overmodulated volume?
Or at least a policy added to the rules that prohibit misrepresentation of linked content?
How many times have we seen threads bogged down with "This isn't one of those scary pop-up videos is it?" whenever someone posts a legitmate link? It's really annoying.
Thank you for your attention.

Its more than over a year old, these jokes have been out for years. I don't like them either, they're pretty sad, but I don't think we can do anything about it.

Oh yeah, I'm also sorry for not having experienced every single thing on the Internet yet.

I'm not blaming you for falling for it or not knowing about it, but at least be a little suspicious. Whenever I come across something I'm not sure about, I at least turn my speakers down so that, if it is a scare like that one, I don't end up looking foolish at work.
And, unless you were threatened to be fired over this, I think you are taking it a bit too seriously.

Oh, me too. And when I click on something that isn't moving, like if it's a pic of a kitchen (that's sort of a notorious one, "what's wrong with this picture"), then I click the back button as fast as I can.

Maybe that is the problem? Maybe you should be working instead of looking at DVDTalk.

Anything with audio should have a warning. That's just common courtesy.
And this isn't just a problem for people at work, it can be a problem for people surfing from home late at night. Nothing sucks more than waking your spouse out of a deep sleep with a noise from the computer, or scaring an infant into another bout of crying.
