An idea for TV Talk...
so i have an idea for the tv talk forum.. it would require a bit of work, but if it's a collaborative effort, it may not be so bad.
with more and more television shows coming out on dvd, many people are hopping on shows very late, and are sometimes seasons behind 'the real world' while they're watching a program. recently, while getting into the alias dvds, i've found it nice to be able to go back and read the old dvdtalk threads about certain episodes from their original airing. what i'm thinking of is a sticky thread, with a master listing of all tvtalk commonly discussed shows, with links to each episode's thread. this would make it much easier for people who are just watching these shows find the thread that coresponds to each episode. i find this would particularly helpful, as using the 'search' feature can kick back much more than what you want, and leave you sifting to find a particular episode. also, the search function isn't working correctly at the moment, and is leaving lots of threads out of queries. what does everyone think of this? like i said, it would involve a lot of wotk at first, and then regular maintanence (which shouldn't be too bad if we're on top of updating the original post when new threads are made).. maybe certain people can be in charge of compiling the list of threads for a certain show (or two, or three).. thoughts? |
I don't venture into TV Talk, but what you are talking about seems like a lot of work for very little. Why not just use the search function? Also, if you're looking for episode synop., http://TVTome.com I generally use that if I need a quick refresher.

I think if you did this yourself, and did a good job, it probably wouldn't take much convincing to get it made into a sticky.

Imagine doing a search for your the name of your favorite show and seeing episode titles that give away major plot points that you haven't seen yet. |

If you go to a place like tvtome you can find out what day an episode aired and go from there with the search. That's what I've been doing with the episodes of Gilmore Girls I've been watching on ABCFamily.
