Are threadcraps against all forum rules?
I would like to know if the policy on threadcraps as indicated in the main Dvdtalk forum is the policy in every forum on Dvdtalk.com.
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=235044 is the post in the Dvdtalk forum. A discussion was happening in the adult forum. I assumed the Threadcrap policy was website wide and not limited to one forum. I am just curious as to what the website policy is on this. |
Rather silly to suggest that there is a forum section here that does allow thread crapping.

By the way, I think you are taking it out of context.
But the same topic which this is refering to is already a thread on feedback: http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=385286 |
I think threadcrapping has settled down compared to what it was two years ago when I started that thread. People should avoid threadcrapping in all forums, but there is a little more leeway allowed in the less directed forums (Other, for instance) as compared to DVD Talk "Main." I've been away on business for the past week-and-a-half, so I haven't had much time to read up on what's been going on in Other, or Adult, or wherever the current brouhaha is.

Thanks for the Threadcrap info. It was what I thought. |

Threadcrapping seems fundamentally limited to threads dealing with movies, music, video games etc. where people bash the topic when that's not the purpose of the thread.
It's a little difficult to picture a thread crap by that definition in say a sports thread or whatever. Thread hijacking is common in all forums (though not as much as in the past) but that's a little different. |

Someone comes into the thread and posts "Jason Kidd is a wife-beating little ***** who should stop pimping his supposedly cute kid and supposedly cute wife, when they're both fugly!". That isn't a thread crap? And while I may have exaggerated, it's pretty obvious that it happens all the time. WHile the definition of what it is may be looser in Other or Sports, it still exists. |
I did a google image search for "thread crap" and here's what I found. I think it speaks for itself.

I don't see that kind of stuff happening in sports all that often (other than stuff like Laker/Yankee/other majority hated team bashing), so it's not near the issue it is in the movie and music forums. Can't comment on Other as I don't read it. |
Personally, I think it should be perfectly OK to thread crap a crappy thread.
