Poker sub-forum, would you use it?

Yeah, eventually this might belong in forum feedback, but I figured it should go here first to see if there was any actual interest.

Anyway, let's say hypothetically we could talk Geoff into creating a poker sub-forum under the otter farm. Would you use it at all? Of course it'd be for all the poker threads that keep popping up, but I was thinking that besides that it would be a cool place for us to talk about where we're playing, invite other others to join a tournament we're going to join, etc etc.

(Hey, it'd get more traffic then the book forum!)

criptik28 04-01-04 01:25 AM

Hell yeah!

(Though it'd be pretty amazing if it actually happened...remember all the fuss over creating the Sports forum?)

jfoobar 04-01-04 01:42 AM

I just called Geoff at home and he said he was going to create one.

Mongo 04-01-04 01:48 AM

What's todays date again?

You should really do it then blurt out "April Fools!" That'd be awesome!

Jackskeleton 04-01-04 02:54 AM

You called to early justin, it's not 1:30 yet!

darkflounder 04-01-04 02:57 AM

Depends. Who are we poking?

BradJ 04-01-04 07:28 AM

I'd be interested! But I can't imagine there being enough traffic to warrant it... :(

garolo 04-01-04 07:32 AM

Assuming it's not an April Fool's joke, I'd check (it out) regularly.

Static Cling 04-01-04 07:38 AM

Even though there are frequent poker threads, I don't know if there are enough. There are about as many poker threads as there are eBay threads, I think.

Wizdar 04-01-04 08:10 AM

So, there's gonna be an eBay forum?

:D

Jeremy517 04-01-04 09:46 AM

Poker forums: http://www.twoplustwo.com/

Yeah, the interface sucks, but there are all kidns of discussions there. A couple book authors/professional players run the site and participate often.

Wizdar 04-01-04 04:28 PM

Now, why, WHY I aks ya, would I wanna go somewhere else? Hmmm?

And you forgot www.unitedpokerforum.com ;)

El Scorcho 04-01-04 06:16 PM

Why not just create your own private dvdtalk poker group on yahoo groups?

GeoffK 04-06-04 10:36 PM

If we were to create one, would it be under Sports?

X 04-06-04 10:57 PM

I think it would go under http://math.youngzones.org/cardclub.gifs.

That's logical.

GeoffK 04-07-04 12:23 AM

If there's enough interest I'd be open to adding a poker sub forum

LasVegasMichael 04-07-04 10:25 AM

Although not a poker player myself, I am a gambler (craps, Blackjack, etc), and would be interested for the gambling discussions in general.

das Monkey 04-07-04 11:22 AM

I have a hard time imagining a whole Poker Forum, but I'm certainly not against the idea, and I would definitely post in it if we had one.

Perhaps instead of simply Poker, you could open it up to all Card Games or Casino Games, or even broader than that?

mikehunt 04-07-04 12:13 PM

I'd post there.
I flopped four 8s the other day, I was dealt 2 and flopped the other 2. Sadly I was only up against one other person so I didn't win much, but he had a full house so he did match my betting

This is what I was getting at. I realize that there are already several Vegas type boards out there (Lord knows I'm a member at most of them), but DVD Talk is my home base, and would definately like to see a gambling forum as a branch of DVDT.
