split the star wars thread

Can we split the star wars thread and make a one & only I hate Lucas and gonna by bootlegs thread?

I read the original before got clean up and the new one is becoming almost as bad. Only thing I can figure out after 20 pages is that they are the SE versions and it's 4 disks.

Wizdar 02-13-04 08:32 AM

Isn’t that pretty much all there is to know?

I think it’s a great idea (which will prolly instantly doom it). Except I don’t think we can talk about boots. And, unless you could find a way to make the two other proposed threads like Siamese twins, it wouldn’t work. If the “I hate Luca$” thread slides, for instance, those with short attention spans will naturally find their way into the “SW appreciation” thread.

But, c’mon now. Luca$ bashing in a SW thread is classic stuff and, for me anyway, the quintessential definition of a threadcrap. Why mess with tradition?

El-Kabong 02-13-04 12:27 PM

Amen - the signal-to-noise ratio is WAY out of balance. The thread is almost useless.

I fully support the "Bitch and Whine about Star Wars" thread and the "Star Wars News only - No Opinions Allowed" thread for news (and discussion thereof).

Blade 02-13-04 12:29 PM

Maybe two threads discussing the different versions that might be coming out, and one discussing what features might be on the discs?

What kind of discussion can there be about an announcement?

"Cool"

"I've been waiting my whole life for this!"

"I'm selling a kidney"

???

Seriously. After the initial "It has been announced" post, what kind of "discussion" can there be?

El-Kabong 02-13-04 02:43 PM

Well, "I'm selling a kidney" would be better than all the "Lucas is shoving it up my ass again!" posts. The amount of threadcrapping going on over there is astounding.

"Is Van ling doing the menus again? What do you think he'll do this time for planet themes?"

"I wonder if they'll include the very first trailer for star wars that didn't even have John Williams' music yet"

"Will it have an insert?"

"What kind of case could it be?"

And countless others that *have* been posted in the threads, but got swallowed up by all the crap and in the process overlooked.

We have announcement threads almost everyday and not all of them degrade into useless bickering. Only Star Wars-related ones.

MJKTool 02-13-04 05:28 PM

Holly crap when was this announced? I would have never guessed I would have found this out in the feedback forum!

Wizdar 02-13-04 05:43 PM

Jedi, your sample questions are creative, but where would they lead? I mean, fer instance, just how much discussion can there be on speculation of case manufacturer?

“Digipacks suk. I can never get the discs out without bending the crap outta them.”

Then you’re gonna have to get the threadcrap police in to bust things up.

The free-for-all atmosphere should be a surprise to no one. Keeping it to a 1&O was the right way to go, IMO. Perhaps, in hindsight, having a positive comments thread and a “bitch and moan” thread might have been a better way to go. But the floodgates have already been opened.

Just sit back and enjoy the show.

How about: "Lucas has shoved it so far up my ass that he hit the kidney I'm selling to buy these discs!"

That would rock.

Keyser Soze 02-16-04 03:01 PM

I got my bootlegs... I ain't buying em' ;)

Nobody knows the answers, so these are useless to ask.

I want to know what the menus are, not what you guys predict they will be.

Well if we're gonna go by the "if no one knows the answer don't ask the question" model, it'll be a pretty dull forum don't you think? Speculation's good. It inspires an exchange of ideas for better or worse, which IMO is far far better than "my trilogy is better than yours" crap that most Star Wars threads end up being flooded with.
