Would it be possible to give individual users the rights to delete postings?

Some threads are completely ruined by threadcrappers. Some are just jerks and other just believe they are being funny. I'd say most just want their post counts to go up.

I would love the ability to remove these posters from a thread that *I* start to help alleviate this problem. Not just me of course, but the original poster should be able to control his thread.

Or conversely, I would like the ability to "ban" certain forum members from posting in a thread. If you are a serial threadcrapper / jerk, I think it would be nice to be able to put out a "You Are Not Welcome Here" mat. Perhaps it would send these users the message that this behavior should not be tolerated.

As a former threadcrapper / jerk who learned the hard way how destructive this behavior is, I can tell you how frustrating it is to not be able to do anything (aside from report to mod, but they are busy enough as it is) about it.

Any chance we can add features like these?

That feature would likely just be abused and start fights.

I just report thread craps, and hope for the best. It tends to vary by forum. Some mods delete them. Some delete them and post a warning. Some leave the post and perhaps e-mail the offender.

That's really the best solution, though I do wish all clear thread craps were deleted and/or warned in thread.

Isn't that what Moderators are for?

Wow, you could start a Bush Bashing thread and forbid any con from posting in it.

Uh, on second thought, bad idea.

As someone said, that's why we have moderators.

I get the feeling, sometimes, though, that moderators tend not to read certain threads.

I've only just begun reporting argument posts where people name-call and act like children, and sometimes they're handled and sometimes not.

Maybe the mods are over-burdened, though, by the posts in many threads lately. Modding could be a full-time job!
