Have we been lied too?
I always thought threads were closed after 10 or so pages because of "problems" w/ the server software, for example the Superbowl thread went through about 4 versions each of only about 10 pages. Currently in the main forum there is a 28 PAGE thread ( http://dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread....hreadid=342934 ) that's still going strong -eek- I demand answers... I support a call for an independant investigation into this... If the mods are lying about this, what else have they been lying to us about...

Thread closed. Mission accomplished.

28 pages? Try this one.

Even though I am a mod, and I usually try to enforce the "closing for length" policy, I think the forum software has been updated, and modified in such a way that there won't be as many problems with the database crashing from having too many pages. In my opinion, it is still a wise idea to close a thread after several pages, at least for the sake of organization and keeping topics up to date (and less so for technical issues).

How did I end up in the Feedback Forum?
|
What needs investigating is not why that thread wasn't closed but why it went on for 28 pages. I mean that DVD WILL come out eventually. Some people making over 40 phone calls, going to each store in their city as if they were searching for the Holy Grail, etc... These people need to seek professional help. :)

I've said for years that there was second mod near the grassy knoll but no one believed me. :(

Actually, it used to be true, but in the last 6 months we've done massive upgrades to our database and web servers as well as several bug fix updates to the forum, so the pages per thread issue isn't one that effects the forum any longer |

Sweet! Does this mean we'll never have to see a Smallball Thread Part M (or a Lakers Thread Part IV)?

maybe we should test it out by trying to create the longest thread ever ;)
