Now, YOU can experience....!

sound from a banner ad every 7-9 clicks, even if you've clicked "turn off the sound"!

Seriously, I don't mind the LOTR:TTT:EE banner ads, but the sound is a pain. And EVEN IF you turn off the sound on one of the ads, about 7 clicks later, there is the ad again, offering "now you can experience..." once again.

I'll be buying this, but it would have been nice had a cookie remembered me saying "no sound, no sound"!!!

ClarkKentKY 11-13-03 02:54 PM

Never bothered me until today. For some reason i've gotten it about 7 times in the past 5 hours, i just had to mute the computer. It'll be over soon.

Now you can experience.....

ChrisHicks 11-13-03 03:34 PM

3 times in the last 4 minutes.

Xanager 11-13-03 03:49 PM

Yep, I'm starting to get it too :(

Patman 11-13-03 04:07 PM

Surfing this site from work can now get you in trouble with this pop-under audio ads.

Movie_Man 11-13-03 04:27 PM

I couldn't figure out who was talking in the distance. Then I realized the sound was coming from my speakers which I had previously turned way down.

Yeah, I don't think much of audio-ads. Definitely not work friendly.

stevevt 11-13-03 05:19 PM

I got it when I opened this thread. Now there's some synergy.

ChrisHicks 11-13-03 06:37 PM

I'm starting to get it on alomost every other click now.

Static Cling 11-13-03 07:11 PM

I'd love this ad if they only changed one thing. Instead of the same quote over and over again, they need to play quotes from the Engrish version of the movies.

"Don't touch me, Frodo!"
"Bring your pretty face to my ass!"

Seeker 11-13-03 07:35 PM

That might almost make it worth it - as it is, it's a pain.

laserdogg 11-13-03 07:59 PM

Don't like it either. I use a TV Tuner card and the competing sound from the audio popup is jarring. Left the bargains forum to come here and avoid/complain about it.

cheapskate 11-13-03 08:05 PM

It's like cancer in the video game forum... :(

Funny, (not really), but I have never seen the ad until tonight either...

MurraySiskind 11-13-03 08:18 PM

I was unable to stop or mute the sound with the little controls on the ad. Very annoying.

I tried to be polite...

Now, if the audio had been in french...

Draven 11-13-03 09:42 PM

I'm not even seeing the ad. Just hearing the sound. I paged through all the windows I had opened and none of them showed the ad.

It's really really annoying.

Edit: Nevermind, I didn't realize it was the BANNER ad. Never seen a talking one of those on here so I didn't even look.

I had the same problem.

Don't like it. Not one bit.

Wizdar 11-13-03 10:14 PM

There's no Twikoff option in the poll. :(

Buford T Pusser 11-13-03 11:29 PM

Yep-I kept hearing sound and not knowing where it was coming from.

ClarkKentKY 11-14-03 12:07 AM

Ugh! 4 times in a row! And its starting to hang my browser now!

Now you can experience.....

LurkerDan 11-14-03 05:05 PM

This hit me last night (computer at work has no speakers), and that is just wrong. Pop-up/unders are one thing, but sound is over the line. :grunt:

Dan in Colorado ;)

GeoffK 11-14-03 05:12 PM

it's done
