Can a Michael Moore thread not start without people going nuts?
 

Just wondering. It seems like even innocous threads about when the release date for "Columbine" is can't be posted without someone chiming about how Moore is the son of Satan and then someone replying that no, Bush is the son of satan and so forth... Hell, I've been guilty of some of this myself but it's a shame people are forgetting this site is at its core supposed to be about the DVDs rather than airing the political dogma of the moment. Anyone else have thoughts? (Besides Moore/Bush is the son of satan?)

I actually never visit the DVD-related forums (now that Movie Talk has (rightly) been freed from that category), but I *do* know there's yet another BfC thread in Movie Talk right now. That thread doesn't seem like it's getting too out of hand, though.

Everybody should just accept the fact that the guy is so controversial - despite his newspaper letter touting the "mainstream" nature of his views :lol: - that any thread about him will morph into a pretty nasty affair. It's Standard Procedure to mention Moore's right-wing equivalent Ann Coulter ("equivalent" in the sense that they both say outrageous things - even if their body weights differ by several orders of magnitude) to help illustrate these points. If I started a thread about my schoolboy crush on Ann, it'd be unreasonable of me not to expect some "Ann is the daughter of Satan" comments. Even if I queried in Book Talk (Ha!) "When does Ann's next book come out?" there's bound to be some controversy.

When you're dealing with wild and crazy characters like these, it's unlikely that the biggest "disagreement" in the thread is going to be "You said it comes out on a Tuesday; you're wrong! It's actually a Monday!" :)

No... the madness must continue.

Rather than turn into a wolf on the final stage just like on the first stage (granted, the final stage wolf was gold, but still......), Altered Beast should have concluded by letting the player morph into Michael Moore. Instead of collecting orbs that would make you more muscular, they'd just make you fatter. After securing Orb No. 3, you'd become Moore, and your principal attack would be scolding your enemy: "Shame on you, Mr. Neff!"

On the other hand, Sylvester Stallone threads call for TOTAL ANARCHY!!!! ;)

And yet another reason why we need a <s>comedy</s> political forum.

I think anyone that cannot stay on topic in a BfC thread in the main forum needs a suspension. The mods there have issued more than enough warnings on what is nothing more than thread crapping in those threads.
