Should Political discussions be BANNED?

I don't like the idea of a subforum, I like my idea better. :D

I ask this, because I'm TIRED of the same old thread that's been done over and over and over and over and over.....

only mods can read/
Please add a smilie at the last poll option, I don't want to hurt the boy's feelings. :)

diacritic 02-20-03 11:28 AM

No, but I still prefer a subforum for current events/politics/religion...

Bandoman 02-20-03 12:00 PM

No, it should stay in other. Ebb and flow...

Josh H 02-20-03 12:40 PM

Censorship sucks, so I voted no.

I don't go to other anymore (haven't for sometime) so I don't know the specifics of this issue. But if it is becoming a problem and is causing fights in other, then the solution is the subforum as that would keep people that didn't want to even see the thread titles from being bothered by them. Censorship is definitely not the solution. It never is.

I kinda like the idea of a subforum. But I would rather it have it's own forum(like Music or Book), so someone else could moderate it. ;)

Banning political threads is not going to happen.

Ranger 02-20-03 04:48 PM

Okay, I didn't have time to type up my point before.

I used to enjoy these threads, but lately it seems to be the same tired bashing matches. There are some members that don't participate in any other threads at any other forums here, but they'll be posting in political threads only. Is this really a good thing?

DVDTalk wouldn't be the first popular forum that banned politcial discussions and this isn't a public forum anyway. We still could have moderate discussions like when the prez addresses the nation, it could be in TV Talk! :D :D

How about just a test to 'discourage' political discussions for a week or two? You know, take a breather. :D

It may be a struggle, but 'what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger.'

Geoff, I hope you haven't stopped considering the idea of relegating political into its own place. There's a very decent sized majority that wants this. Feel free to throw http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=270368 into other and get a much larger vote if you want.

Bushdog 02-20-03 06:05 PM

Hey Ranger, are you compelled to open the political threads that bore you so?

I guess you know nothing about a "self selected sample." People like you, who are angry at politics are more likely to vote than people who don't care much either way. You're getting results that are meaningless.

My advice would be for you to argue the merits of a move, not because "the people have spoken."

Gallant Pig 02-20-03 06:45 PM

People who want to forum to stay the way it is are just as likely to vote in the thread as someone who wants to see a change.

This is just the kind of poll I would have expected from a France-loving liberal.

closing this thread... as I said it's not going to happen. You're more than welcome to voice your support for a sub forum:
