Is it taboo to mention these film dealers?

I e-mailed Geoff months ago with this question and never got a reply.

There is a certain group of video (yes video) merchants known as the "grey market". They are legal according to the Berne Act, but many industry people frown upon them for profiting (however slightly) from the sale of films, without furnishing residuals to the participants. They deal in imported duplications of films that are not officially available domestically, and hence are not subject to ownership concerns. I've bought many copies of extremely rare films from several of these companies, and I've come to the conclusion that most of the people who run the joints are genuine film buffs trying to bring wider attention to some undeservedly long-forgotten pictures. If anything, they are providing a service to the N.A. copyright holders, since many films that would normally never have seen the light of day again, are resurrected, and can gain enough word-of-mouth momentum to warrant consideration for "legitimate" DVD release. This has happened numerous times already.

I would like to be able to reveal and recommend (or warn away from) these sources if the occasion rises in a discussion of film, but only if sanctioned by this website.

What is the official line?

We have a very strict policy about bootlegs and 'grey market' DVDs: DVD Talk isn't the place to discuss them.
