Just a suggestion - would it be possible to get a buy/sell forum on this board?

I believe this was brought up before , but I couldn't find a thread on the reasons why.

although my guess it could become a bit more work although the current system seems to be able to be used for any sale so other than server issues i do not think it is any harder to allow someone to sell a hard drive as it is to sell a dvd or video game.

I would like to see a buy/sell forum for dvd...but not video games or baseball gloves! This is, after all, a dvd forum.

I would love to a "DVDTalk Mart" or osmething similar, where we could all buy /sell anything. From PC parts, to monitors, to speakers, whatever. It'd be nice.

Well, too late. We already have a video game exchange/sale forum. This is a DVD forum, but members here have other interests as well.

I think one of the concerns with having a selling/trading forum for things other than DVDs & video games has been people getting scammed on stuff. This forum doesn't have any protection systems built-in like eBay and Half.com do. That's not a huge problem when we're talking about a $20 DVD or even a $50 game, but when we start talking about a $150 computer part or $500+ speakers, it gets to be more of a concern.

While there is no central place, we do now offer the ability for people to sell through our price search feature!

Here's an example:

Let's say I have the book 'Prey' to sell. I go to the DVD Talk Price Search: http://www.dvdtalk.com/price.html

and search for that item.

Now I click on the 'Sell Yours Here' link under the book cover image:

And can list it for sale!!!


Here's an example of a listing for 'Tommy Superbit' which I happened to get an extra one of, you can see how you get listed wihin the search! (I am using one of our extra domains for my storefront name 'chaptersearch.com')

Hopefully this new function will help those of you who wish to sell other things than DVDs and Video Games.

That is a nice feature. The negative thing is that someone who is looking to trade something might not really be interested in the feature.


for me I might like to trade something every now and then non-dvd/game related but I really have no interest in selling things which is why I pass on ebay/half.com type places.
