As is requested so frequently in these pages, if you think there is a problem with moderator action please first email either the moderator in question or an admin rather than taking a thread further off-topic.

I am sorry that you misunderstood the intent of the general pre-emptive warning that I posted in this thread: Stephen Ambrose died!!

If I had been aiming it at a specific DVDTalk.com member most likely I would have quoted them. If I had thought that a personal attack had already taken place I would have arranged for their suspension.

Instead, I saw the potential for an argument/discussion to go "bad" and posted a reminder as to what is expected hereabouts. Farthest from my mind was the thought that I would be "called out" for it and that anyone would deem that they were being singled out and warned. If I am going to do that you will know about it. This was general and preventative; an ounce of prevention....

I have now emailed you about this and explained my thinking.

I think benedict handled it perfectly. You had said

..i think you are sad for letting this stuff bother you that much
which to me is a first salvo in what can very easily become a flamewar. You made it personal by saying the other poster was sad. I would expect (from experience) that the replies would have escalated and people would be suspended.

A preventive salvo is a much better idea.

As benedict mentioned, please take up issues like this with the moderator in question directly and privately. If you still have an issue, or do not feel like you can discuss this directly, than write to the site admins or the site owner.

Those Chaucer vs Shakespeare threads can get real nasty :(

Why do you think I stay in the videogame forum- The wonderful intellectually and emotionally supportive debates ;)

I still remember the ugly scene a few years ago in Book Talk that broke out over improper use of the word "onomatopoeia".....
