stupid question

I know you all will laugh at me but I have a stupid question......

How do you cut text from another post in a thread and insert it into your own post. It is regularly done on this site and gives credit to the original author of the post. Im not sure why I don't know how to do this.

thanks,

BBP

You can either use the Quote button at the top right of that person's post (beside the Edit button), or you can enclose the text you want to quote in quote tags: [quote.]XXXX[/quote.] (without the periods).

I know what you're talking about, I've seen people doing it also. It will say something like "originally posted by [name]", then will say what they had said, but I'm also not sure how it is done.

Spoiler:
Just hit the "quote" button to quote people...

Below the reply window, under the heading "Forum Rules" is a link to the Smilies and the vB Codes that allow you to do your own quotes, and add links, bold and italics to your posts.
