*sob* If you take away the one thing I am good at, then what will be my meaning of life in The Otter Farm?
Seriously though, I apologize to anyone who gets tired of the "bad" news stories that I publish, (sometimes I post good news stories that come out of bad news stories) but I think that it is actually helpful to others when someone posts news items like the "Amber Alert", which will make them aware of what's happening in our world. Just think of how many people in the Farm actually found out about the "Amber Alert" and found out that it is an important and powerful tool to find missing kids. I cannot take credit for the 1st posting of the words 'Amber Alert' here in the forum, that was done a couple of days before I posted the story of the 2 girls kidnapped at gunpoint here in California.
So, I can see someone complaining about there being too many bad and depressing stories posted here. But many people don't get to read the newspaper (which is already 24 hour old news) or watch t.v. in the morning, so this is probably the first time they hear about those news stories, when they are posted here.

And when I am browsing the forums catching up on old threads, and watching new threads created that are news, news, news, something else, news, news..., and so many just total cut and paste jobs! I guess I need to do my part and start some new threads.

Yes, they hear it on the radio or TV, see it on the internet, or *gasp* actually read the newspaper!
So why do we have to see it all here too?

Complaints are made when there are too many personal threads, complaints are made when there are to many current event topics, complaints are made where there are no topic topics...
Moving to feedback.

Try not to take this out of context, or feel free as it is your prerogative -- but the irony of one that used to clutter this very forum with yours truly and quite a few others in a padding mindless-banter manner is the same individual voicing one's opinion in how to enact countermeasures to clean it up?
I'm sorry, but I have to laugh at this one ...

I think we gutted the "OTHER FORUM" enough with the seperation of Sports, Mature, TV, and Music. do we really need one thing less to post in this forum?
what will be left? meet's and "what do you know about ____" threads?

Why do you think being a castaway on an infamous island is so much more enjoyable nowadays ...

Actually the news articles are the main reason I come back to the Other forum. In part to see what I missed as I don't read all the news headlines all the time and in part to post interesting articles I find. As CharlesC mentioned most of the fun is the discussion the news item causes.

the amount of other (as in non-news) posts in other aren't any less because of posting news
if the other topics are found to be of more interest they will get posted in and rise above the news
so what's the problem?
